Technical Process and Experience Manager : External Workforce Management (MEWS)

Global organizations increasingly rely on many sources of talent beyond their traditional, full-time employees – this is known as the external workforce. External workers are a vital part of SAP’s business and the SAP External Workforce Management Office is a newly established team created to drive excellence in SAP’s External Workforce operations, processes and associated technologies. We are looking for a Technical Process & Experience Manager to own End to End processes for External Workforce Management and manage associated process changes.


The role will combine a high level of systems focus and business requirements management. Representing External Workforce topics within the business and on projects that deliver the Intelligent Enterprise. You will work to ensure SAP’s needs for external workforce are delivered via effective and efficient processes committing SAP to be BEST RUN.


The External Workforce Management Team works across the silos of finance, procurement, HR and IT within a complex process and technology landscape to deliver on business needs by bringing a holistic approach to External Workforce Management within SAP. The EWMO is responsible for the utilisation and management of SAP Fieldglass within SAP.




Process improvement

  • Is the SME across the external workforce processes partnering across teams to drive alignment and innovation
  • Creates and owns Process documentation for E2E processes
  • Ensures operational benefits are driven in relation to External Workforce from product landscape
  • Provides process support and guidance as needed across all BAU areas connected to External Workforce Management
  • Seeks to ensure Best Run Intelligent Enterprise approach is taken in relation to all processes related to external workforce


Team leadership

  • Team management of 1/ 2 FTE
  • Proactively manage the development of team members, supporting career growth
  • Represent the MEWS team as a leader in varying meetings, deputising for Head of MEWS where appropriate.


technical and System knowledge

  • Works with SAP IT and Fieldglass to ensure business centric and strategy relevant solutions are delivered
  • Acts as internal expert on SAP Fieldglass
  • Team members create and manages release regression testing processes
  • Team leads release training process – collaborating with enablement consultant to ensure effective delivery of relevant information to all stakeholders
  • Leads SUS survey review and creates a plan to tackle outcomes.


Business consultation and change management

  • Customer focused consultative approach – seeks to understand the business operations and needs, assess impact of change and to deliver effective solutions to the business
  • Responsible for managing change procedures – receiving and reviewing change requests through effective evaluation of business needs; prioritisation of change requests including impact and risk assessments and alignment to overall goals and objectives; prepares implementation plans, monitors and reports progress
  • Takes a customer centric approach to all activities
  • Follows market trends and innovation translating into opportunities to drive value for SAP
  • Gathers and documents business needs and articulates them effectively within the change management and governance structures – managing and tracking progress against delivering solutions to the business
  • Keeps business well informed – managing flow of relevant and useful information related to all external workforce topics
  • Works with colleagues to monitor adoption using system data and feedback / survey results to identify blockers to adoption
  • Strong collaboration with Transformation process lead ensuring joined up strategic thinking and resource planning.

  • Experience of working with / within the workforce management or procurement organizations of a multi-national organization and the ability to understand the complexity of such environments.
  • Experience of working within a cloud technology environment and understanding of SAAS
  • Strong IT skills
  • Aptitude for collaboration in cross functional environment
  • Proven track record in process ownership in a complex multi-national environment
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with experience working on multiple topics/ projects in parallel, excellent follow-through and the ability to solve unstructured problems. 
  • Ability to listen and take into consideration information from multiple stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration skills - to work effectively in cross functional teams
  • Appreciation for the importance of effective change management and willingness to apply this to all work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluent English (written & spoken)
  • Experience of working with a VMS (SAP Fieldglass)
  • Experience of working within a cloud technology environment and understanding of SAAS
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to report, analyze and interpret data & initiate corrective action



  • Strong presenting and public speaking skills
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of working with the workforce or procurement organizations of a multi-national organization and the ability to understand the complexity of such environments
  • Working on topics with strong compliance requirements
