Job Overview: 

 

The Data Center Physical Security Manager – EMEA Region will serve as a subject matter expert on physical security applications and technology for all owned and co-lo data centers in the EMEA region. The candidate has experience in data center operations, responsible for developing physical security standards, procedures, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), and training for day-to-day security operations.

 

This role will require a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of data center risk and compliance requirements and serve as the subject matter expert for regional data center physical security audits within the EMEA region. In addition, the candidate will serve as a data center physical security advisor to the EMEA Head of Physical Security Operations and oversee all data center physical security projects within the region.

 

The candidate will collaborate with the global and regional physical security managers on data center system installations and operations through established program management operations. In addition, the candidate will collaborate with the respective EMEA Field Operations Managers (Country, Area and Sub Regional) on executing day-to-day security operations, to ensure the physical safety and security of SAP employees, property, and assets. As a result, the candidate will encounter a very high level of regulatory, compliance, financial, and brand impact and a high work and life safety complexity.

 

The candidate will manage day-to-day customer engagement, knowledge management, quality assurance, and organizational learning pertaining to SAP data center operations. And they will seek to foster programs to transfer the relevant knowledge across administrative boundaries, as directed by the EMEA Head of Physical Security Operations and Global Head of Data Physical Security. 

 

The Sr. Physical Security Specialists will maintain the highest professionalism in all activities to represent the organization internally and externally while serving as trusted advisors and ambassadors for SAP and affiliated companies. 

 

 

Job Description:

 

- Provide overall physical security support and direction to multiple SAP business locations. Maintain a site-by-site overview of budgeting/spending, existing conditions, contact data, and location-specific information.

 

- Serve as a data center expert on physical security, advisor to EMEA Head of Physical Security Operations on data center security applications and operations, subject matter expert (SME) for risk and compliance with oversight of regional requirement for data center audits.  

 

- Strong communications skills with experience in developing teams and conflict management 

 

- Experienced in conducting physical security risk assessments, surveys, and physical penetration testing on data center facilities.  

 

- Serve as an advisor to EMEA Field Operations Managers (Country, Area and Sub Regional)  on the data center physical security applications and security operations to standardize security operations in both co-lo and owned SAP data centers.   

 

- Oversight and SME on data center electronic security systems applications and vendors support, to include electronic access control, badging, visitor management, security video, intrusion detection systems, and control center operations.

 

- SME for the execution, planning, design, bid, construction, and commissioning activities for multiple concurrent projects, and oversee all aspects of physical security related to these projects. Projects include new construction and renovation, DCM, system replacements, and additions.

 

- SME on the data center physical security application for Data Center Management (DCM) operations and programs. 

 

- Provide training and employee security awareness programs.

 

- Assist as needed in conducting internal investigations within the DC domain.

 

- Oversee data center physical security incident reporting and resolution.

 

- Conduct presentation of data center physical security services when necessary.

 

- Partner/support SAP Health and Safety programs to ensure emergency responses initiatives. 

 

- Report on physical security strategy and metrics (KPIs).

 

- Maintain close relationship with law enforcement and emergency responders.

 

- Maintain plans and engage as required in crisis response within the regional AOR.

 

- Work as directed by EMEA Head of Physical Security Operations and Global Head Data Center Physical Security.

 

Competencies and Skills:

 

Manage detailed programs related to the efficiency of the organization's financial, operational, and overall compliance. Seek to highlight ways to improve the organization's effectiveness and its processes.

 

Possess good working knowledge and understanding of their industry, identify and collect key market information/trends, and apply them to the organization/processes. 

 

- Manage and execute day-to-day delivery of multiple projects up and down the organization. 

 

- Manage relationships often with global, regional, and local senior management plus outside 

  service providers and business partners. 

 

- Manager of processes and interfaces across organizational boundaries inside and outside of

  Global Physical Security management related to area of responsibility.

 

- Seek to drive operational excellence and quality assurance by providing best practices,

  problem-solving, and guidance within their area of responsibility. 

 

- Area of responsibility will be EMEA and include multiple facilities.

 

- Serve as liaison to executive management / provide reports/champion internal goals and

  manage KPI's. 

 

- Conduct performance reviews and people management, where appropriate.

 

- The Senior Security Specialist is typically accountable for a significant number of indirect

  reports. 

 

- Manage and implement the primary strategy for the organization on a regional level

 

- Manage and be accountable for the organizational budget on a regional level (operation +

  capital)

 

- Manage the day-to-day tactical and operational side of the business on a regional level

 

Experience, Education, and Certifications:

 

- 8-10 years of experience in the physical security industry or equivalent (military, law

  enforcement, etc.) or three years minimum experience incorporating physical security  

- 3 years of direct experience in most" Job Description" and "Competencies and Skills" above.

- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

- Ability to pass background verification.

- Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD), particularly in the field of physical security and data center domains.

- English speaking and written to business proficient level; second languages (particularly French or Dutch) desirable.
