User Experience Designer - S/4HANA Consumer Industries

S/4HANA Consumer Industries Cloud is a new business unit at SAP S/4HANA with a focus on Industry Cloud, an emerging market segment where SAP guides its customers towards evolving their industry-centric business models with new processes, tools, and business services. SAP CIC complements SAP existing Business Suite as well as helps the entire company keep pace with new market trends in Industry Cloud.


SAP S/4HANA CIC holistically targets the strategic industries Consumer Products, Retail, Wholesale, and Life Sciences. As a dedicated unit, it takes a start-up approach to developing new cloud products and brings together the product strategy and Product Management for these four industries with all the necessary cloud business functions, such as architecture, engineering, and operations along with the development of cloud-native applications.



Since you will be working closely with our product managers, developers, architects, customers, and domain experts, you are a collaborative team-player. Tasks will include the creation of customer research artifacts, user journey maps, low-to-high fidelity prototypes, usability studies, and others. As we are a startup-like environment, a wide variety of tasks and a dynamic work environment are a given.


Other tasks will include:

  • User Research:
    • Explorative methods (Discovery workshops i.e.),
    • Descriptive methods (validation of storyboards through usability studies i.e.),
    • Confirmatory methods (surveys i.e.)
  • Customer Engagements:
    • Collaborating and communicating professionally with clients and internal teams.
    • User Journey mapping of as-is business processes and of to-be processes
  • Prototyping:
    • Designing user-experiences from low-fidelity sketches and wireframes to hi-fidelity pixel perfect mockups.
    • Developing interactive reporting dashboards and different types of visualizations.
    • Highly detailed communication of design principles + direction, as well as design specifications to engineers.
  • Validations:
    • Validating ideas and designs using usability tests, A/B tests and product performance
    • Measuring recently released product features to establish benchmarks and to identify potential areas of improvement.
    • Creating rapid prototypes to validate design concepts with stakeholders and customers.
  • Thought Leadership:
    • Staying abreast of UX trends and looking for creative ideas and inspiration in Influencing cross-functional product teams and the organization to achieve solutions that are right for our customers and adhere to the product vision.



  • 5+ years of UX or interaction design experience; experience with responsive web design and frameworks
  • Experience with SAP Fiori a plus.
  • Proven well-designed examples of responsive grid-based layouts. Strong work portfolio that demonstrates systematic and creative design thinking as well as a deep understanding of UI/UX best practices
  • Strong ability to recognize and predict use cases and user interaction, including happy path as well as edge and corner cases, and incorporate them into designs
  • Ability to explore, identify, and validate user needs
  • Tool Expertise: Mural & Figma
  • Understanding of information design/architecture, principles, and user psychology
  • Strong team orientation and ability to thrive on virtual, international, cross-functional teams
  • Excellent verbal, communication, and board/executive level presentation skills in English
