Role Information


RISE with SAP is a business transformation as a service from SAP that allows our customers to embark on their journey to becoming an intelligent enterprise. The goal is to ensure that organizations can transform their businesses with minimal risk and disruption and use an approach that initially transitions the customers to the cloud and then embark on a transformation journey at their own pace.


The RISE Technical COE is a new unit within SAP’s Customer Success organization that seeks to bring together a diverse range of technical skillsets at the disposal of select RISE customers with an aim to provide them a superior onboarding and transitioning experience. We are seeking a highly talented and experienced senior leader in the role of the Global Head – RISE Technical COE with experience and an established track record in running high performing technical and functional teams across matrix organizations. This role will report into the SVP and Global Head of the RISE Cloud Architecture & Advisory Team. We are open for candidates to be based either in North America or in Europe.


What will the RISE Technical COE do?


RISE projects require a very wide range of skillsets that need to be made available to our customers; this expertise sits across diverse teams and organizations. These skills need to be made in a timely manner with a degree of precision that allows problems to be solved rapidly. Some of these skill sets include core S/4HANA expertise, integration & security know-how, migration and testing knowhow, networking expertise etc. The COE will bring these skills together (virtually / physically) allowing us to provide a holistic viewpoint and solution for some of our largest RISE implementations. The goal will be to provide a best-in-class onboarding and transition experience for these customers leading to enhanced customer satisfaction. In addition, key learnings from these projects will need to be documented and fed back into the respective teams which allows them to scale and implement those learnings in a systematic way so that these learnings become part of SAP’s documented best practice for RISE.

Last but not the least, the Technical COE will ensure regular ongoing follow up with these select group of customers and create checkpoints on their RISE journey making sure that the technical milestones and plans are being met.


What you will do


As the Global Head of the RISE Technical COE you will:


  • Build out the multi-disciplinary group of experts covering the diverse range of skillsets that are routinely needed for a successful RISE implementation.
  • Skillsets and areas to be covered and staffed within the Technical COE include (but not limited to)
      • Enterprise Architecture
      • Networking
      • Migration
      • Integration
      • Security & Compliance
      • Testing
    • Build alignments and networks with the various stakeholder organizations within the RISE ecosystem (CSS, GPO, ECS, License PreSales etc.) to ensure their buy in and active participation
    • Define the engagement model (entry, engagement & exit criteria) where the Tech COE gets engaged with customers and the core deliverables for those engagements.
    • Develop a knowledge capture-and-share mechanism through which learnings from these projects get funnelled back into respective teams to become part of standard practice.
    • Drive cross team improvements based on key learnings generated on projects and feed these back into the stakeholder organizations such as Solution Management.
    • Drive mechanisms to share knowledge and information across various teams such as RISE sales, Cloud Architects, ECS through series of bootcamps and clinics.
    • Work closely with RISE Customer Office and the Regional Leadership teams to make the Technical COE available to them for large and complex RISE customers.


What you bring

  • Solid Communicator with strong executive customer presence with ability to take ownership of some of the largest RISE Onboarding & Transitioning projects and drive them to outcomes to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • 12+ years’ experience in managing technical & functional teams ideally in the technology consulting / technical presales area.
  • Solid understanding of SAP products and technologies, experience with managed service providers is an advantage.
  • Ability to work across diverse teams and backgrounds, build and scale virtual teams globally.
  • Ability to build bridges across multiple teams ranging from Enterprise Cloud Services, CSS and the system integrator partners.
  • Understanding of Hyperscaler platforms, BTP is a plus however not mandatory.
