What you’ll do:
- The BTS Technical Architect will lead activities in the technical domains for SAP’s largest and most important customers’ innovation and digital transformation initiatives.
- You’ll possess a good understanding of regulated industry customers and the specific needs of customers in the State, Local, Federal, Utilities and Aerospace & Defense verticals.
- You’ll prepare and conduct customer workshops to analyze a customer’s “as-is” situation, identify challenges and opportunities, and translate findings into transition and target state architectures.
- The Technical Architect will collaborate with SAP Functional and Enterprise Architects and the SAP Engagement Lead on project deliveries, including heatmaps, roadmaps, and technical architectures.
- Liaise with SMEs from other SAP organizations to address engagement requirements such as product capabilities, gaps, or roadmaps, as well as incident support.
- Collaborate with SAP Premium Engagement and SAP National Security Services to ensure alignment on project deliverables and service delivery.
- Drive the design, implementation, and oversight of SAP solutions' technical architecture, with a particular emphasis on infrastructure and cloud architecture/SaaS, technical strategy and governance, integration architecture, data architecture and management, application development, and security and compliance.
- Support BTS customers in the execution of pre-migration analysis tools like the SAP Readiness Check, ABAP Test Cockpit, SAP Fiori Upgrade Impact Analysis, and the SAP Integration Suite - Integration Assessment
Required areas of expertise:
- Infrastructure and Cloud Architecture
- Competencies: Proficiency in cloud and on-premises infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud migration.
- Skills: Knowledge of cloud platforms (SAP BTP, AWS, Azure), hybrid architecture models, and SAP Basis administration.
- Cloud Architecture and SaaS
- Competencies: In-depth knowledge of cloud strategies, including SAP Business Technology Platform and cloud-to-cloud integrations.
- Skills: Expertise in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and hybrid cloud solutions, as well as cloud security practices. Solid understanding of SAP’s Cloud and Service strategies like S/4HANA Private vs. Public Cloud, SAP RISE, and SAP Grow.
- Technical Strategy and Governance
- Competencies: Strategic alignment with business objectives, technology governance, and roadmap planning.
- Skills: Ability to assess, prioritize, and guide SAP investments and transformations to align with business goals.
- Integration Architecture
- Competencies: Designing and managing seamless integration across SAP and non-SAP systems.
- Skills: Strong understanding of moving customers from SAP Process Integration (PI), Process Orchestration (PO), APIs, and middleware technologies to SAP Integration Suite, Familiar with SAP’s ISA-M methodology.
- Data Architecture and Management
- Competencies: Reporting and analytics, data modeling, master data management and governance, and data quality.
- Skills: Expertise in SAP Datasphere, SAP HANA, SAP BW/4HANA, SAP MDG, data lakes, and data warehousing principles.
- Application Development
- Competencies: Understanding of the SAP Clean Core paradigm, SAP Fiori, SAPUI5, ABAP, and customization within SAP’s development framework.
- Skills: Proficiency in SAP development tools (e.g., Web IDE, Eclipse), extension concepts, and methodologies such as DevOps and CI/CD.
- Security and Compliance
- Competencies: Knowledge of SAP security architecture, identity and access management, and compliance standards.
- Skills: Expertise in SAP GRC, SAP Identity Management, data encryption, access controls, and compliance with GDPR and other regulatory standards.
- Application Lifecycle Management
- Competencies: Proficiency in SAP’s ALM solutions, such as SAP Solution Manager, SAP Cloud ALM, and Focused Build for SAP Solution Manager
- Skills: Knowledge of configuration and integration of these tools, understanding of their role in incident management, change management, and deployment. Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA deployment options and extensions (on-premise, cloud, hybrid).
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate collaborative architecture discussions with our customer’s IT and business executives.
- Work effectively across multiple functional and technical teams to capture and assess requirements to ensure that technical architectures reflect, support, and enable the required business outcomes.
- Support the customer in the definition and documentation of baseline (“as-is”) architectures and footprints.
- Analyze IT requirements and align them with key business requirements provided by functional architects to ensure technical capabilities will support the overall business process scope.
- Work closely with the Enterprise Architect and Engagement Lead to develop deployment strategies and roadmaps and recommend conversion and migration approaches in the context of system conversion, Selective Data Transformation and new implementation.
- Identify improvement potentials within the technical domains, including - but not limited to - system performance, integration error management, data quality and harmonization, and improved data accuracy and real-time availability.
What you bring:
- Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation - able to lead customer engagements at an executive level
- Proven excellent knowledge across all technical architecture domains and deep implementation knowledge in SAP ECC, S/4HANA, and cloud solutions (ideally in A&D and Public Sector)
- Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills; ability to present and discuss strategies and technical information in a manner that establishes rapport, persuades others, and establishes understanding for technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficiency SAP LeanIX, SAP Signavio expertise, Cloud ALM and TOGAF certification are ideal success criteria for this role.
- Ability to estimate the financial impact of various architectural alternatives
- 5+ years of SAP solution experience, 5+ years of management consulting experience
- 10+ years of IT and architecture experience
- MBA preferred

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 150400 - 335800 USD USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
