What you’ll do

Position Title: SAP iXp Intern - Developer

Location: Newtown Square, PA

Expected Start Date: May 2024

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Hours: 40 hours per week

We are seeking a talented and experienced Intern Developer to join our Security Automation and Controls Engineering Organization. This individual should be proficient in HTML5, Node.js, JavaScript, Python, and Go, along with an understanding of secure coding best practices when it comes to developing state of the art applications and systems. As a Developer Intern, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable software solutions that drive our business forward. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, architect solutions, and deliver high-quality code that meets our standards of excellence. This innovative development role will enhance efficiency, reduce human error, and streamline our workflows, ultimately saving time and resources.

• Design and develop responsive, user-friendly web applications using HTML5 framework.
• Build scalable server-side applications and APIs using Node.js, Python, and Go.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Implement efficient and maintainable code following best practices and design patterns.
• Write clean, modular, and well-documented code that meets coding standards and ensures high performance and reliability.
• Perform code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior developers to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Optimize application performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and evaluate their potential impact on our development stack.
• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to deploy and maintain applications in production environments.
• Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, to deliver software incrementally and iteratively.
• Implement security coding best practices to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive data.

What you bring

We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 1 years of professional experience in software development.
• Good understanding in server-side development using Node.js, Python, and/or Go.
• Experience with JavaScript programming language and modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
• Good understanding of security coding best practices, including input validation, authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure coding techniques
• Good understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and serverless architectures is desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the hourly base salary rate range applicable for the posted role.
