Location: Palo Alto, CA

 

Purpose and Objective: SAP Labs, LLC seeks a DevOps Engineer at our Palo Alto, CA location responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of customer environments in Cloud of respective product lines and ensure the delivery according to defined Service Level Agreements.

 

Expectations and Tasks: Have basic knowledge in various technologies (e.g. database, platform) used by development and operations. Drive for automation and standardization. Ensure smooth operations and maximize uptime. Collaborate with engineering and product management as well as other service groups. Improve system landscape support in the assigned functional areas of responsibility. Independent assurance of effective system operations along the software lifecycle. Provide knowledge management in the team and between operations and development. Ensure excellent quality and maintain high standards in all processes listed in the relevant process map. Contribute to operations model/operational processes and procedures.

 

Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field of study and 5 years of experience required. The company will also accept a Master's degree and 2 years of experience.

 

Work Experience:

Experience must involve 2 years in the following: Task automation scripting languages like Perl, Python, JavaScript, Golang, Groovy etc; Monitoring as a Service (Influx DB, Telegraf, Kapacitor, Grafana, Kafka, Site24*7, Dynatrace, SNMP, MongoDB); configuration management tools like Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible in production environments; GCP infrastructure (i.e. Compute engine such as App Engine, Kubernetes. Storage and Database components, Networking components such as VPC, Cloud Armor); Unix Linux environment (RedHat 5 – 7, Apache tomcat, Jetty web server); Rundeck and Jenkins administration and automation; DevOps Infrastructure automation: Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Nomad, Vault, Ansible, Jenkins; DevOps configuration management tools (SALT stack, Ansible, Packer); and Automation using various DevOps tools (Perforce, git, Crucible, JIRA API, Slack APIs and chatbots, Vagrant, ServiceNow, Packer, Kafka, Jfrog artifactory). Experience also included: IBM Tivoli network fault management monitoring system – Perl scripting, DB2.
