SAP Supply Chain Management (SCM) is a leading SaaS portfolio for resilient supply chain management, including design, planning, manufacturing, logistics, asset and service operations as well as Business Networks.

Reporting to the President and Chief Product Officer of Supply Chain Management, we are seeking an experienced Chief Product Officer to lead this L2 organisation and be responsible for a large global organization across engineering and product management teams.

 

What you’ll build

The Chief Product Officer (CPO) is accountable for defining and delivering the product vision, strategy, and execution, as well as cloud operations, for the company’s supply chain planning platform. This role ensures the platform enables effective planning and decision-making across integrated business planning processes including demand, supply and inventory planning, while driving customer value, market differentiation, and commercial success.

The CPO serves as the executive owner of the product portfolio, aligning customer needs, market trends, and technology capabilities with the company’s strategic and financial objectives. The CPO acts with the mindset of a general manager, unifying all functions, including a tight collaboration with customer success (e.g. sales, presales, after-sales), services, product marketing (e.g. positioning, pricing), analyst relations etc.

You should have a strong background in leading globally scaled cloud-native SaaS products and be comfortable in a fast-paced, agile environment. You are deeply familiar as a domain expert with Supply Chain Management processes and specifically Supply Chain Planning. You are comfortable in 1:1 client discussions with senior executives as well as in 1:many presentations, delivering keynotes at events. You will drive the vision and strategy for Supply Chain Planning, establishing credibility with SAP leaders, product teams, senior supply chain leaders with customers, partners and peers. Leading the unit, you will act with a CEO mindset, accountable for the success and growth of your product area.

 

Core Responsibilities:

Product Vision & Strategy

  • Define and own the 3yr long-term product vision and roadmap for the supply chain planning platform.
  • Align product strategy with business goals, customer outcomes, and market opportunities.
  • Ensure precise product positioning and differentiation in the supply chain planning market and with analysts.
  • Prioritise investments based on value, impact, and feasibility.

 

Customer & Market Leadership

  • Maintain a deep understanding of customer planning challenges and industry competitive differentiation.
  • Engage directly with key customers, partners, analysts and industry stakeholders to guide product direction.
  • Monitor competitive landscape and evolving planning requirements.

 

Product Delivery & Execution

  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle from concept through launch and ongoing enhancement.
  • Own bi-annual semester plans to steer the overall product execution.
  • Take headcount, staffing and budget decisions to maximise product growth, enabled by the highest possible customer value.

 

Business Impact & Go-to-Market

  • Drive adoption, customer satisfaction, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Support go-to-market strategy, pricing, and value messaging in collaboration with Sales and Product Marketing.
  • Enable consistent product narratives for enterprise customers and partners.

 

Leadership & Governance

  • Build and lead high-performing product management & engineering teams.
  • Drive SAPs product operating model for an empowering culture with engineering, product management and UX teams with transparent guardrails and strong performance goals, making visible the key contributors to the organisation's success and identifying areas needing improvement.
  • Establish product governance, metrics, and decision frameworks.
  • Represent product strategy at the executive leadership and board level, e.g. in product- and quarterly business reviews.
  • Possess exceptional organisational and multi-tasking skills necessary to handle conflicting demands, along with highly refined written communication and oral presentation skills, particularly for senior executive and board-level communication.

What you bring


A thorough understanding of Supply Chain Planning processes, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to deconstruct critical challenges and complexity drivers. You are expected to provide well-conceived and defensible conclusions and make clear recommendations, based on data driven insights and impact analysis. Familiarity with working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural organisation, characterised by open and frank dialogue, where time-to-market, productivity, and efficiency are essential success factors.

 

  • Professional with an academic background in Computer Science, Business, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree, MBA, PhD, or related advanced degree is advantageous. 
  • Experience in Product Management and/or Engineering leadership roles for SaaS enterprise software solution providers. 
  • Experience in developing and executing product strategies that lead to revenue growth and market share increase. 
  • Leadership and team management skills, capable of motivating and directing diverse groups, evidenced by high leadership trust and employee engagement scores.
  • International experience that demonstrates effective communication with multicultural teams. 
  • Communication and presentation skills in English, including C-Level communication, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven decision-making approach. 
  • Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives. 
  • Adaptability to fast-paced and dynamic environments, with the capacity to adjust to shifting priorities. 
  • Proven practical experience in overseeing and leading cloud native engineering organisations using the latest technologies and principles 
  • Leadership qualities include integrity, empowerment, clarity, reliability, accountability, and execution focus. 

 

Work Experience:

  • Over 15 years of experience in Product Engineering or Product Management, focusing on Supply Chain SaaS applications, especially Supply Chain and Supply Chain Planning.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 370400 - 629700(USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
