Our AI Experiences unit is made up of multi-disciplinary teams comprised of Product Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, Engineers, and other AI experts and we all care deeply about the people who use our products.
As a Principal Designer on our AI Experiences team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience of our AI-powered enterprise solutions; including Joule, the best AI copilot that truly understands business, and the Generative AI Hub, the best platform for experimenting and building embedded AI experiences across the SAP suite.
You will drive critical initiatives and define UX concepts for enterprise-scale and consumer-grade web, iOS, and Android applications for SAP’s business users. You are a strong team player and know how to lead projects from rough ideas to successful outcomes. You will leverage your deep product design expertise to create relevant, reliable, and responsible AI experiences. You will ensure your designs make an impact by partnering closely with product and development teams across the Business AI unit as well as SAP-wide. You are eager to gather feedback and test proposed designs to end users for research and validation. You are passionate about design and continuously broaden your skillset on design methodologies, technologies, upcoming trends, and enterprise business scenarios. You are eager to nurture the growth of early design talents through mentorship and encouraging feedback during projects.
Key Responsibilities

Design Strategy: Develop and articulate a comprehensive design vision and strategy for our AI-driven product suite, aligning with our company and organization’s goals and user needs.

Innovative User Experience: Create and refine user journeys and interaction flows that simplify the integration of AI capabilities into intuitive enterprise workflows.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to deliver cohesive and impactful design solutions.

Mentorship and Leadership: Guide and mentor a team of designers, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and excellence.

User-Centric Design: Advocate for the user at every step of the design process, conducting user research, usability testing, and gathering feedback to inform design decisions.

Prototyping and Design Systems: Build high-fidelity prototypes and maintain robust design systems to streamline development and ensure consistency across products.

Market and Trend Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging AI technologies, and competitive products to ensure our designs are cutting-edge and market-leading.

Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate design concepts and strategies effectively to senior leadership and key stakeholders, championing the value of design in achieving business objectives.
Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 8 years in product design, with at least 3 years in a leadership or principal role, ideally within enterprise software or AI-driven products.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.

Portfolio: Strong portfolio showcasing your design expertise and experience with complex, data-intensive applications.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Framer, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and experience with design systems.

Analytical Thinking: Ability to translate complex AI and data-driven concepts into intuitive user experiences.

Leadership: Proven experience in leading and mentoring design teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Innovation: Passion for staying ahead of design trends and pushing the boundaries of what is possible with AI in enterprise software.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 185100 - 403,800(USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
