Purpose and Objective


SAP Customer Innovation and Maintenance (CIM) is a global organization dedicated to delivering co-innovation solutions to meet the business needs of our customers. We deliver a complete lifecycle of Software Development services from strategic planning, risk assessment, development, and quality assurance to solution maintenance. With development centers in US, Canada, Germany, Eastern Europe, Brazil, India, China, and Japan, we leverage a delivery model that utilizes the specific strengths of each location. To ensure excellence in execution, all development is delivered by following our solidly defined Agile methodology.


Summary and Role Information 

  • As part of the Innovation Engineering team, you will be responsible as a line manager to lead a team of Developers, Architects, Product Owners and Quality Managers, take accountability for selected projects (responsible for solution and code quality), work on local/global internal/external project staffing requests, represent the solution delivery team in the governance of internal/external stakeholders, work with other teams within CIM and SAP organization to ensure that the projects are executed with high quality, on time and on budget following the Agile based CIM Methodology and SAP Product Standards.
  • In addition, in alignment with our people strategy, you will be responsible to create an environment that allows the team members under your leadership to learn, change, and grow. You will shape a culture of mutual trust, collaboration and curiosity and facilitate valuable knowledge exchange to enable collective success. You will ultimately be responsible for the health of the team, and for making sure that your innovation engineering team is focused on the right priorities.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the entire Talent Management process for a team of 20+ developers, architects, and quality managers.
  • Develop and manage team growth and work towards improving the Employee Engagement
  • Develop a world class workforce by identifying training needs for strategic areas and fostering the execution of the training plans
  • Support the Regional Head of CIM Innovation Engineering in strategic development of the organization
  • Analyze, prioritize, facilitate, allocate and manage resource needs to maximize team utilization, increase contribution and help achieve organizational objectives
  • Lead and drive to completion assigned internal strategic initiatives
  • Coordinate project staffing in close contact with other units and regions
  • Review and approve project estimates, SOW and change requests per the defined approval matrix
  • Ensure proper opportunity and project risk assessment, monitor project risks and, together with the Customer Project Management Office (CPMO) and the management team, handle escalations flawlessly
  • Support Project Managers by being, together with the CPMO, their first level of escalation, by helping them in project setup, staffing, participating in steering committee meetings
  • Working with the architects and quality managers, be responsible and accountable for high-quality code delivery in projects under your accountability
  • Working with the Project Managers, be responsible and accountable for fostering a culture of project management excellence to drive high Customer Satisfaction.


Educational Qualifications / Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree highly desirable, preferably in a technical related discipline like Computer Science, Engineering. Having a MBA is a plus
  • Good understanding of product development life cycle
  • Cloud mindset. Experience in managing cloud development teams
  • Flexible and adaptative mindset to adjust to changing priorities
  • Strong analytical problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Project Management experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills


Work Experience

  • 7+ years of development management experience ideally in Cloud development
  • Prior experience in leading multidisciplinary project teams


Travel Requirements 

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed.
