What You’ll Build
The SAP Internship Experience Program is SAP’s global, strategic, paid internship program that provides university students with opportunities to find purpose in their careers. This is more than an internship; it’s the foundation for a career built on connection, creativity, and impact.
Position title: SAP iXp Intern – Globalization Software Developer
Location: Hybrid - Palo Alto
Expected start date to end date: January 2026 – July 2026
Working hours: Full time 40 hrs./week
- The intern will contribute to the development of SAP Globalization Services’ AI-driven automation platform—part of our next-generation Spec-to-Content and Knowledge Graph initiatives
They will work on real production services, including: - Implementing high-quality, maintainable code in Python, Java, and/or JavaScript, aligned with our cloud-native architecture
- Building backend and frontend components that integrate with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and AI/ML services
- Contributing to SAP’s internal Knowledge Graph (RDF/SPARQL), helping build intelligent automation capabilities
- Supporting database schema design, data ingestion pipelines, and integration workflows across multiple SAP systems
- Participating in unit testing, debugging, CI/CD pipelines, and pair programming with senior engineers
Expected outcomes include:
- Delivery of production-grade features or components.
- Measurable contribution to at least one end-to-end workflow (API integration, KG query, UI element, or AI processing step)
- Documented code, tests, and design artifacts that can be maintained by the team after internship completion
Business impact
- The intern’s work will directly support SAP’s globalization automation strategy by:
- Enhancing developer productivity through AI-based generation of configuration artifacts
- Reducing manual effort in content engineering through smarter knowledge graph queries and automation logic
- Improving reliability and scalability of services running on SAP BTP
- Accelerating SAP’s ability to deliver compliant, localized software to customers worldwide
- This is real product engineering, not shadow work—every contribution ties directly to SAP Globalization Services’ roadmap
Team environment and collaboration
The intern will work within a cross-functional engineering team that includes:
- Senior developers and architects
- Product owners from globalization domains

Technical Skills
- Python, Java, JavaScript
- SAP BTP development (Cloud Foundry, CAP, OData services)
- Databases & SQL schema design
- CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, automated testing
- AI/ML foundations including embeddings, generative AI, LLM-driven automation
- Knowledge Graph technologies (RDF, SPARQL, triple stores)
Engineering Practices
- Agile software delivery
- Code reviews and architecture discussions
- Writing production-level code
- Observability, debugging, and optimization
Domain Knowledge
- SAP Globalization engineering processes
- ERP concepts and enterprise SaaS architecture
- Global regulatory compliance and localization workflows
Interns will participate in real releases, not sandbox projects.
They will work on cutting-edge AI automation in one of SAP’s most innovative engineering programs.

Educational requirements
- Eligibility: Must be currently enrolled, or recently graduated (start date must be within 6 months of graduation date) from a coding academy/bootcamp, apprenticeship, associate, bachelor’s, master’s or JD/PhD program
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with at least one of: Python, Java, or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with SQL and database design principles
- Exposure to Git/GitHub and CI/CD workflows
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn AI/ML and Knowledge Graph technologies

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 15-62 USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
