Purpose and Objective:  
Ariba, Inc. seeks a Senior User Experience Design Specialist at our Palo Alto, CA location to provide product usability, evaluation, and support to product development teams in projects, including the analysis and investigation of applications/systems of high complexity.

 

Expectations and Tasks: 
Work as part of a dedicated project team to provide direction and inspiration to peers and maintain and influence the design language. Present to and manage relationships with stakeholders and their adjacencies on a variety of efforts that support both the business and a strong user experience. Responsible for User Interface delivery outcomes of assigned projects and sub projects. Assess usability problems caused by implementation errors, IT customization, or integration across SAP products. Plan and schedule usability studies that can test User Interface standard building blocks and pattern concepts independent of specific product domains. Use and coach on design User Experience tools to solve complex User Interface issues. Lead interactive customer product demonstrations and discussion and elicit user requirements on both the usability and functional scope. Create User Interface proposals, high fidelity prototypes, and animations for communication of specific interaction details.

 

Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies: 
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Visual Design, Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction or related field and 6 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience required. The company will also accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Visual Design, Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction or related field and 4 years of experience.

 

Work Experience: 
Experience must involve 4 years in each of the following:
•    Facilitate brainstorming and co-design activities with internal groups and with customers;
•    Evolve, create, and contribute to the UI design pattern library for web;
•    Design and deliver web applications following Lean UX approach;
•    Design for Accessibility and localized experiences;
•    Apply user research methods as baseline for design approach; 
•    Work with globally distributed teams as well as larger multi-disciplinary team that includes visual designers, content strategist, product managers, and engineers; and
•    Design, test, and deliver user journey maps, interaction workflow, wireframes, prototypes, and final mockups and design specs for implementation.
