Purpose and Objective:
Ariba Inc. seeks a UX Design Specialist at our Palo Alto, CA location responsible for working with Product Management and Development, materialize a product vision that melds business owner/PM objectives and continuous user research into a compelling user experience.
Expectations and Tasks:
Work with Product Managers, business owners, and engineering to understand end-user requirements. Design as a stakeholder in an agile development process that values close collaboration between disciplines. Design and deliver interaction flows and screen mockups from sketches to prototypes. Support processes for gathering customer feedback and iterating prototypes. Evangelize UCD principles to the stakeholders. Work as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team that includes Product Management, engineering, documentation, and training.
Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:
Bachelor's degree User Interaction, HCI, Computer Science, Design, Information Science, or related field of study and 1 year of experience required. The company will also accept a Master's degree and 0 years of experience.
Work Experience:
Experience or coursework must involve the following: Organizing information in an understandable manner and apply insights to design websites, desktop apps, mobile apps and physical materials; User research ability to plan and conduct user research events using different methods including interview, survey, contextual inquiry, user journey map; Analyzing findings from different user research and applying these findings to design solutions to solve specific design problems; Wireframing ability to define the interface components which are needed for all possible interactions; Prototyping skills with Figma, Invision to test both usability and functionality; Visual communication including applying layout, color, typography, icons, images and design theory to final design solution; Interaction design skills in different UI Controls and creating the design using software like Sketch, Adobe Suite, Figma; Understanding the business requirements and product strategies related to B2B software; and Design guidelines and know-how to apply the right floorplans or UX controls to solve the right problem.
