VP of Development Productivity

 

The VP of Development Productivity will lead multiple engineering teams responsible for our engineering infrastructure including CI/CD, developer tools, build and test pipelines, their reliability, delivery pipelines, all product branches, and engineering environments. This role will be at the forefront of delivering SuccessFactors’s Big Bets to greatly increase developer productivity with modern technology platforms, build and test pipelines, and operational rigor that can easily scale efficiently. The ideal candidate’s experience encompasses technical architecture and/or software development, business strategy, and people management experience. This executive will have an ability to leverage prior success building, testing, and supporting products and platforms that run at scale. As a leader you will work closely with other technology leaders across different engineering organizations within SAP and this position is reporting to the VP of HXM Transformation Engineering at SuccessFactors.

As a leader you will be setting KPIs to define, measure and improve development, engineering productivity to communicate the progress to everyone in the organization. You will lead our journey of shift left strategy to bring ownership to all engineering teams within SuccessFactors and enable engineers in this journey through massive automation and self-services. You will set the vision for our transformation journey for DevOps and work with SRE engineers within Cloud Operations to improve reliability of our environments while improving productivity of all development teams.

 

 Key Qualifications: 

  • Computer Science degree with 15+ years of experience in enterprise software organizations demonstrating experience in defining, improving engineering productivity
  • Demonstrated ability to support delivery of high-quality SaaS products using internal development modernized pipelines that serve millions of users
  • 5+ years of software development experience delivering new products to either in private or public cloud
  • 5+ years of managerial experience driving large transformational projects to move engineering groups to DevOps culture using Agile principles
  • 5+ years of application engineering experience, data-driven approaches to improve productivity, reduce time to delivery and improve quality. 
  • Proven record of working on complex CI/CD, building modern parallelized pipelines, branching strategies, besides driving related technology vision and execution
  • Prior experience in migrating monolith pipelines to microservices and containers is required
  • Good understanding of open-source lifecycle, management, security concerns and life cycle management
  • Experience leading teams to build solutions on public cloud such as GCP, MS Azure, AWS
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Gradle, GitLab, SonarQube, K8s in hybrid cloud environment is required
  • 5+ years of experience managing 50+ people teams in enterprise software in multiple geographic locations
  • Successful track record of building credible relationships through proven communication and persuasion skills. The leader will also drive/partner closely with multi-disciplinary teams across the organization to deliver business outcomes with effective and rapid decision.
  • Ability to work well through ambiguity, confidence in making tough calls and leading through adversity with a sharp focus on the eventual right outcomes
  • Speed as a Habit - can operate in a fast-moving environment, make quick decisions and execute fiercely to deliver outcomes
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline recommended
