PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The Innovation Center Network's mission is to strengthen SAP as a leading tech company by investigating new technologies, staying up-to-date on research trends, and through helping customers to realize innovative solutions. It consists of a highly diverse team which has expert knowledge in a wide range of technologies.

You will be a member of the Reason on MirageOS scrum team, part of the bigger Clound App Dev Kit for Scala team. The goal of this freshy formed team is to explore the unikernel technologies in the context of cloud applications. The team is highly international, and English is the working language of the team.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

You will support us with experiment and evaluation of MirageOS for cloud-based business applications.

Your tasks will include:

  • Make measurement of resource consumption by MirageOS applications
  • Write scripts for automatic deployment of MirageOS applications
  • Create documents and tutorials
  • Discuss design and concepts in the team

The planned initial task is to deploy multiple instances of MirageOS on Google Computing Engine and KVM and take various measurement.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • You are a student at a university or university of applied sciences in computer science, mathematics, or related subject.
  • You are familiar with kernel development, in particular familiarity with microkernel or virtualization (such as KVM) is a big plus.
  • You have good working knowledge of statically typed programming languages (such as C, C++, OCaml or Haskell).
  • You are willing to learn OCaml. (But prior knowledge of OCaml is not required)
  • You are autonomous and proactive.

Your set of application documents should contain a cover letter, a resume in table form, school leaving certificates, certificate of enrollment, current university transcript of records, copies of any academic degrees already earned, and if available, references from former employers (including internships). Please describe as well your experience and skills in foreign languages and computer programs / programming languages.
