PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The Innovation Center Network (ICN) is a development unit within SAP, combining software engineering excellence with entrepreneurial spirit. Across various focus areas we pioneer game-changing solutions in close collaboration with startups, customers & partners in industry and research as ideas and developing inspiring proofs of concepts, we push the state of the art in computer science and its applied fields to provide SAP with foresights into future trends.

The ICN is also well known at executive level, resulting in various projects coming directly from the Executive Board and Supervisory Board. In a flexible and fast manner, the Chairman Projects team, consisting of developers, designers, software architects, and infrastructure experts, comes up with tangible solutions for these high-priority inquiries. Our technology-focused team realizes strategic projects such as implementing proof of concepts, supporting keynotes and papers, and creating reports about state of the art technologies.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

Software engineering is your passion? Great! Join the SAP Innovation Center as a Student for the Chairman Projects team. You will be part of a technology-focused team that was built to help shaping the future generations of SAP software. You will be working closely with the team on dedicated software engineering challenges. This is a great opportunity to gain practical experience and increase your knowledge.

At the Chairman Projects team, we are dealing with a wide range of different projects using the technologies which enable us to tackle challenges best. You will be working on one or multiple projects. Examples are:

  • Kaleidoscope – an interactive project overview developed in ReactJS
  • The Room – the central hub to explore ideas build with JavaScript using Polymer Web Components and Java
  • Project Portfolio Overview – a web-based application to manage the ICN project portfolio (SAP UI5, SAP HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud)
  • Showcases – Keynote and show floor ready applications presenting latest SAP technology as Machine Learning, Blockchain, Conversational AI and other technologies
  • Conversational AI – Build conversation interfaces leveraging Machine Learning using Python, Django, and Node.js

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Student at a university or university of applied sciences
  • Preferred field(s) of study: Computer Science or a related field
  • Computer skills: Excellent programming skills in frontend (e.g. JavaScript, Polymer, ReactJS) and/or backend (e.g. Java, SQL, Node.js) technologies as well as source code management (e.g. git)
  • Knowledge in database systems are a plus (e.g. SAP HANA, CouchDB)
  • Experience in DevOps are a plus (e.g. Continuous Integration using Jenkins or Travis)
  • Language skills: Fluent in English or German (written and spoken)
  • Soft skills: Eager to learn and hands-on working
  • Reliable and open-minded
  • Strong team working skills
  • Determined to reach a goal in time
  • Ability to work independently and to prioritize tasks
