Senior Data Validation Specialist for functional usage and adoption data

Meet your team:

We are a team within the central IT department of SAP who deal with functional usage and adoption data across the company. For this team we are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Data Validation Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, proficiency in data analysis tools, and a commitment to ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of data across complex systems. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to validate and analyze data, uncover actionable insights, and support data-driven decision-making.

What you'll do:

Data Validation and Quality Assurance:

  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive data validation procedures to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve data discrepancies by collaborating with relevant teams.
  • Maintain data validation documentation, including checklists, test cases, and issue logs.

· Data Testing and Verification:

  • Perform end-to-end testing on data pipelines, migrations, and transformations to ensure data integrity.
  • Validate data across multiple systems and sources to confirm alignment with business requirements.
  • Develop automated validation scripts or use existing tools to streamline testing processes.

· Data Quality Management:

  • Establish and monitor data quality metrics, including accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Implement and enforce data governance policies to maintain data integrity.
  • Work with stakeholders to define data standards and validation criteria.

· Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Partner with data engineers and IT teams to identify and address root causes of data quality issues.
  • Provide detailed reports and visualizations of validation findings to key stakeholders.
  • Offer insights and recommendations for improving data accuracy and processes.

· Tool and Process Optimization:

  • Leverage advanced tools and technologies such as SQL, Python, or ETL platforms to optimize data validation workflows.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging tools to enhance validation processes.
  • Implement automation solutions to reduce manual validation efforts and improve efficiency.

What you bring:

 

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in data analysis, validation, or related roles, ideally within SAP.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in validating large datasets.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, or similar tools).
  • Proficiency in SAP tools such as SAP BW/BI, SAP HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies for project management.
  • Strong skills in SQL, Python, or other scripting languages for data analysis and automation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ETL tools and processes, particularly in SAP environments is a plus

Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Languages: English, German is a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and interact with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
