PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
At a very high level the role of the SAP Integration architect is to:
- Be the link between Business, Functional and Integration teams
- Identify all the development and integration inputs required to implement a specific solution landscape
- Drill-down to the details with the Development, Integration, Business and Functional teams
- Facilitate across project lines, i.e., between various project teams both technical and functional
A successful SAP Integration Architect is not “only” an experienced architect, but also an innovator, strategist, diplomat, consultant, and leader. As an architect and innovator the architect will have broad SAP Product knowledge, an awareness of latest development and integration trends as well as have visibility of much of the breadth of the SAP solution.
As a strategist, leader and consultant the architect role will include:
- Understanding that sometimes the biggest problem will not be technical
- Clear communication and presentation is a necessity at all levels on the project
- Ability to influence the key players and convince the stake holders
- Listening, negotiation and networking
- Expect to communicate across a broad spectrum of user communities - CIO, project team members, external parties etc.
- Ability to manage and lead integration teams (onshore and offshore)
- Actively contributes technical architectural advice to governance forums.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
General Responsibilities:-
- To deliver development and integration architecture and solution based on business and functional requirements
- Scrutinizes design for Integration and Development aspects
- Serves as the focal point for development and integration issues
- Provides direction on Development and Integration standards and guidelines
Specific Responsibilities:-
- Design of Integration architecture – identification of software components
- Required to deliver business functionality (blueprint), based on input from Functional Solution
- Contributes to, and architects, relevant architectural principles.
- Performance assessment and tuning of requirements’ assessment using SAP tools and benchmarks.
- Collaboration with local project teams and partner community on development and integration aspects of projects and requirements.
- Assist SAP teams (pre-sales, support, consulting, resourcing) with aspects related to role and beyond
- Ability to liaise with SAP product, solution and development management teams.
- Perform integration reviews, as required.
- Ability to provide estimation for integration solution design requirements when needed
- Ability to organise and facilitate integration-related workshops with key stakeholders from both business and technical teams
- Ability to produce high-quality documents and artefacts that are based on SAP methodologies and toolsets
- As part of the next generation tools and game changers at SAP, involved as part of a wider SAP team driving Cloud adoption through the SAP ecosystem, leveraging the internal SAP networks.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- A university degree in computer science, engineering or related field
- Strong technical understanding of software development and architecture
- Experience in understanding technical systems / architectures and performing in-depth analyses
- Desire to work in a highly technical environment and strong ability to work and communicate with people from different fields
- Highest level of flexibility, integrity and confidentiality
- High ambition, drive for and focus on results and execution
- Ability to multi-task and deliver highest quality work under time constraints and in complex environment
- Excellent communication and networking skills
- Project / product management skills
- Strong team player with the mind-set to work in a high-impact team
- Various certifications supporting and demonstrating knowledge of SAP
- Relevant industry certifications highly desirable
- Extensive experience in core SAP tools and technologies
- Extensive experience as a SAP developer, senior developer, advisory consultant,
- Development team leader and integration Architect across customer industries.
- Extensive experience in SAP Integration tools like PO/PI, BPM, SAP BTP Integration Suite
- Experience in BTP Solution Architecture related to Integration, Security and Connectivity
- Experience in Delivery in Hybrid Integration Architectures.
- Extensive experience in the integration of 3rd Party Technologies and Solutions
- Experience in working with SAP solutions like S/4HANA and SAP LOB Cloud solutions like Ariba, SuccessFactors, Fieldglass, CX Suite of Solutions and Concur.
- Some experience in working with Mobile Solutions is desirable
