We are looking for a talented and experienced software architect to join our engineering team. As a software architect, you will use your knowledge of cloud-based software systems to maintain and enhance our industry leading cloud HR platform. You will work closely with a team of engineering, product management, and user experience to help define the future direction of our product. You will take a leadership role in collaborating with and mentoring software engineers at all levels in your primary role of guiding high-level decisions throughout the design process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement complex software architectures and systems
  • Develop architectural solutions for databases, services, APIs and user interfaces
  • Serve as project lead and co-architect for large projects.
  • Collaborate with product management and user experience to determine project scope and direction
  • Decide on the platforms and coding standards to be used in product development
  • Evaluate existing software solutions to identify areas for improvement
  • Create modifications for existing software to upgrade performance
  • Conduct testing to ensure optimal functionality
  • Debug any errors or issues that arise
  • Ensure architectural integrity of software solutions
  • Take a lead role in defining project timelines and complete work to deadlines
  • Maintain thorough documentation of systems and applications
  • Mentor, encourage, and motivate team members
  • Oversee architectural approaches from conception to deployment
  • Research and evaluate cutting edge technologies and evangelize their use in the product

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field
  • Professional certifications in software architecture, frameworks, or languages
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in a software engineers role
  • 5+ years of architecture and development experience in all areas of Java and J2EE
  • Strong object-oriented design and development skills
  • Strong logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Must be able to lead a large team effectively
  • Superior interpersonal communication skills
  • Clear and coherent written communication, including visual representations of data (UML)
  • Experienced in Agile development methodologies
  • Extensive understanding of architectural styles and design patterns
  • Experience with database design, data modeling and database technologies (Oracle, Hana)
  • Expertise in modern API technologies (REST, OData)
  • Experience with Cloud based architectures and technologies (JBoss, Tomcat)
  • Solid understanding of web security principles and OWASP standards
  • Experience with HTML5 based user interface architectures and technologies (JavaScript, jQuery, ReactJS, SAPUI5)
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
