Your Future Role
We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our Sovereign Cloud Sustained Engineering team. In this role, you will be part of the Sovereign Cloud Delivery Assets (SCDA) team, responsible for the architecture, provisioning, and maintenance of AWS, GCP, and Azure accounts within Sovereign Cloud.
As a key member of the team, you will:
· Design, implement, and manage cloud account architectures with deep expertise in at least one hyperscaler (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
· Develop and maintain automated solutions for cloud account provisioning, governance, and lifecycle management.
· Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable seamless infrastructure and application deployments.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and build scalable, reusable solutions tailored for hyperscaler environments.
· Ensure compliance with security and cost management policies, leveraging tools like Vault, Web Application Firewalls (WAF), and cloud security frameworks.
· Drive improvements in cloud infrastructure automation, using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies such as Terraform and Ansible.
· Monitor and optimize cloud environments, improving availability, performance, and security.
· Standardize and document operational processes, ensuring consistency across cloud environments.
This is a small team with a significant impact, so strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills are essential. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our cloud strategy and automation efforts.
What You Bring
Technical Skills & Experience
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure, or operations.
· Deep expertise in at least one hyperscaler (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and a solid understanding of the others.
· Strong experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, ArgoCD, GitLab CI/CD, or similar tools.
· Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or equivalent.
· Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
· Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments, including IAM, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
· Proficiency in cloud cost optimization and governance strategies.
· Monitoring and logging experience (e.g., Prometheus, ELK Stack, CloudWatch, Datadog).
· Development experience in at least one programming language (Python, Go, or similar).
Organizational & Soft Skills
· Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle shifting priorities.
· Proven ability to lead and drive technical initiatives, working across teams and stakeholders.
· Excellent documentation skills, ensuring clarity in architecture, automation workflows, and CI/CD processes.
· Ability to develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cloud account management.
· Strategic mindset with strong problem-solving abilities to optimize cloud automation and deployment processes.
· Proven ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environments, adjusting to shifting priorities.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to explain complex cloud concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Work Experience
· 7+ years of professional experience in cloud delivery, infrastructure engineering, or cloud operations.
· 3+ years of experience in cloud operations, developing, delivering, and maintaining cloud solutions.
· Proven track record in designing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
· Experience leading cloud automation or DevOps initiatives within enterprise environments.
· Experience in a leadership or mentorship role within cloud engineering teams is a plus.
