About the team:

We are a multi-disciplinary team formed by Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers, UX/UI Designers, and Product Managers. We support innovators inside SAP to materialize their product, to find customers and to change industries!


At the SAP.iO Venture Studio engineering team, we support a wide range of ventures in different stages of maturity in their daily engineering challenges. We help the new ventures with software architect decisions, security guidelines, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, alerting, operations and so on.

What you’ll do:


Position Title: SAP iXp Intern – SAP .iO DevOps Engineer

Location: San Francisco, California

Expected start date to end date: June 10, 2019 – August 16, 2019 (also looking for interns who can start sooner)


In this role, you’ll:

You will work at SAP.iO core Engineering team and closely with SAP.iO venture teams as well. You are going to help build and improve CI/CD pipelines for the venture teams, collaborate with engineers to ship new features, and create and improve monitoring dashboards. You will also help creating different types of tests and update our configuration scrips. You are expected to work with teams from different backgrounds / countries and should be able to work with a modest level of supervision.


You will be exposed to DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering mindset! You are going to learn how to build, test, and deploy productive applications into the cloud. Will learn how Kubernetes clusters works and how to containerize web applications with Docker. You will understand what should be monitored and how to monitor using Prometheus, InfluxDB, Logstash, FluentD, and Kibana.


You will have a better understanding how components, processes, communication of web apps works in production.


Who you are:


You should have a bachelor or a master’s degree in computer science or similar field and be an English speaker. You should feel very comfortable using a Linux terminal, should be able to recognize that something is not working properly and feel secure in troubleshooting a problem, and if you can’t find a solution, you should feel comfortable asking for help.


You must understand the building blocks of distributed systems, have a basic notion on how the puzzle pieces of a web app (SaaS) fits together. But the most important, you have to bring your hunger for learning and be eagerness to grow with our team!
