What you will do

As an Expert Application Developer, you are the technical authority and strategic driver for SAP CX Commerce Cloud. This role is about shaping solutions, driving cross-functional alignment, and ensuring successful customer outcomes. You will define the long-term technical strategy, bridge business requirements with technical feasibility, and serve as the Customer Onboarding Angel to guarantee seamless go-live experiences.

You will navigate complex stakeholder landscapes—both internal (product, engineering, security, compliance teams) and external (customers, partners, regulatory bodies)—to deliver compliant, cost-effective, and innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Solution Design & Business Architecture

  • Define and own the business-aligned technical roadmap for Commerce Cloud's extensibility, microservices architecture, and SAP ecosystem integration
  • Translate complex business requirements into actionable solution designs
  • Evaluate trade-offs between technical feasibility, compliance requirements, cost efficiency, and time-to-market
  • Drive solution architecture for Agentic Commerce (AI-driven autonomous agents) and next-generation commerce capabilities

Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as the primary liaison between internal teams (Product Management, Engineering, Security, Legal, Compliance) and external stakeholders (Customers, Partners, Regulatory Bodies)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at all levels—from technical teams to C-level executives
  • Lead cross-team initiatives to solve system-wide challenges that impact multiple products and business units
  • Drive consensus through influence, negotiation, and exceptional communication skills
  • Present technical strategies and project updates to diverse audiences, adapting communication style accordingly

Project Management & Execution Excellence

  • Own end-to-end project delivery from ideation through go-live and post-implementation support
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, risk mitigation strategies, and resource allocation
  • Remove blockers proactively and escalate issues appropriately to maintain project momentum
  • Coordinate with multiple teams across different time zones and organizational boundaries
  • Track and report on project milestones, KPIs, and success metrics

Customer Onboarding Angel

  • Serve as the dedicated champion for customer success during onboarding and go-live phases
  • Work directly with customers to understand their unique requirements, constraints, and success criteria
  • Coordinate internal resources to address customer needs and resolve issues with urgency
  • Ensure smooth handoffs between implementation, support, and customer success teams
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks that could impact customer go-live timelines

Security, Compliance & Regulatory Excellence

  • Serve as the technical authority for FedRAMPGDPRSOC 2, and other enterprise security/compliance frameworks
  • Navigate extremely strict regulatory requirements with a goal-oriented mindset
  • Find creative, compliant, and cost-effective solutions when facing complex security constraints
  • Design and advocate for security architectures that withstand the highest levels of scrutiny
  • Partner with Legal, Security, and Compliance teams to ensure all solutions meet regulatory standards
  • Stay current on evolving compliance landscapes and proactively adapt strategies

SAP Ecosystem Integration

  • Drive seamless integration between Commerce Cloud and SAP core systems including:
    • SAP S/4HANA (ERP, Finance, Supply Chain)
    • SAP Order Management Foundation (OMF)
    • Other SAP Line of Business solutions
  • Understand S/4HANA implementation methodologies and integration patterns
  • Collaborate with SAP product teams and customers to ensure successful end-to-end commerce journeys
  • Identify and resolve integration challenges that impact customer business processes

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate emerging AI tools, methodologies, and industry trends to keep the platform competitive
  • Spearhead R&D initiatives for Agentic Commerce and AI-driven capabilities
  • Champion best practices for solution design, project delivery, and customer success
  • Mentor and guide team members on strategic thinking and stakeholder management

 

What you bring

Experience

  • 16+ years of experience in enterprise software, with significant exposure to large-scale distributed systems and complex stakeholder environments
  • Proven track record of driving projects from concept to successful go-live without being a hands-on coder
  • Extensive experience working with enterprise customers in complex B2B or B2B2C commerce environments

Technical Acumen

  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and modern platform design
  • Strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, Order Management, and SAP ecosystem integration patterns
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, particularly AI Agents (Claude SDK, AutoGPT, enterprise AI workflows)
  • Ability to evaluate technical solutions and make informed decisions without writing code

Security & Compliance Expertise

  • Deep expertise in FedRAMP, GDPR, SOC2, and enterprise security architecture
  • Experience navigating highly regulated environments (Government, Financial Services, Healthcare)
  • Proven ability to find compliant, cost-effective solutions under strict constraints
  • Strong understanding of security best practices for cloud platforms

Communication & Collaboration

  • Exceptional communication skills—written, verbal, and presentation
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels without direct authority
  • Experience managing relationships with both internal teams and external customers/partners
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Strong facilitation and conflict resolution skills

Project & Program Management

  • Experience leading cross-functional, multi-team initiatives in matrixed organizations
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Familiarity with Agile, SAFe, or other enterprise project management methodologies
  • Track record of delivering results in ambiguous, fast-changing environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP implementation projects (S/4HANA, Commerce Cloud, CX Suite)
  • Background in e-commerce platform architecture or digital commerce strategy
  • Experience with government compliance programs (FedRAMP Authorization process)
  • PMP, SAFe, or other project management certifications
  • Experience in customer-facing roles (Solutions Architect, Technical Account Manager, Engagement Manager)
