Marketing Operations

Develop and deploy processes and systems needed for efficient and effective marketing. The main goal is to maintain smooth operational excellence and organizational agility across global teams and market units. They do this by using formalized best practices, processes, infrastructure, tools, technology, reporting, and analytical frameworks.

Responsible for ensuring that systems, processes, technology and tools are in place to set performance expectations, monitor progress, and measure results.


Performance Management

Help optimize the customer experience, maximize Marketing & Communication impact for SAP

by providing:

1. clear goals to drive desired behaviors and teamwork;

2. aligned metrics and measurement systems;

3. operational reporting to support business processes and activities;

4. acute visibility to insights and leading indicators to enable early course-corrections;

5. regular forums to share best practices and address issues


The focus areas of performance management include

  • the strategic key performance indicator framework, marketing business reviews, executive insights and operational reporting on brand health, sponsorships performance, demand management, integrated plan management, campaign effectiveness, demand management, foundational intelligence and data-driven marketing.
  • support the overall management process by helping to answer questions such as what's happening, how we are performing against goals, why things happened, and how can we optimize future results based on these insights. Lead and collaborate with regional and functional team leaders to develop KPIs and measurement frameworks and with APJ Marketing Operations on requirements for business intelligence solutions; including dashboards, reporting, and processes to provide visibility and to improve marketing performance.


More specifically, they typically perform the following tasks:

  • Provide thought leadership for SAP Marketing and SAP overall around performance management topics
  • and identify and evaluate industry best practices for implementation
  • Develop and lead evaluative processes to ensure marketing resources are managed and allocated effectively and serve to measure impact and ensure optimization of results
  • Drive the showcasing of SAP Cloud first technologies for performance management case studies, including industry venues and publications
  • Oversee the creation of measurement frameworks for marketing effectiveness across the customer journey
  • Execute and monitor performance metrics through the adoption of business intelligence tools
  • Benchmark internal and external performance of key metrics and help apply benchmarks to develop goals and insights for brand health, social media share of voice, social media engagement rates, cost per lead, lead-to-close velocity, pipeline conversion rates, marketing contribution to revenue, engagement rates, net promoter score
  • Provide insights into end-to-end performance and ROI analysis of our marketing campaigns and activities (including paid, owned and earned media; sponsorships; content marketing; telemarketing; events)
  • Provide performance management results and actionable insights to community members and stakeholders through ongoing communication leveraging strong data visualization, storytelling, and clearly articulated learnings

Experience & Language Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years of related experience
  • Project leadership (medium-large scale projects, cross countries, cross regions, cross solutions)
  • Marketing strategy development and planning



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
  • MBA/Master's degree or equivalent preferred
