The development center of SAP in Bulgaria plays a key role in the defining and developing of the SAP Business Technology Platform. With its more than 1700 professionals, SAP Labs Bulgaria also has strong contributions toward life-cycle management, user interface & user experience across the broader portfolio of SAP products and business applications. The Role

We are looking for a great people-person to join our team: A strong, committed, self-motivated, reliable, and analytically skilled team-player, owning and shaping the future of key services in our SAP HANA Database Development organization.You will work as a part of a highly motivated team located both in Germany, South Korea, China and Bulgaria.

As a Development Manager you will recruit, build, and manage a local agile team of developers in Sofia.Together you will grow expertise in the group’s services and will contribute to their ongoing development.

You will work together with the development leads, product owners and development operations colleagues in the group to create value for our stakeholders and customers.

You will support the effort to develop features in the SAP database technology, provide maintenance of our database components and keep the services stable at enterprise-grade level.

What you`ll do:

• Product delivery - define product plans and execute against a committed delivery timeline. Manage the day-to-day activities of the development team (including developer on duty 24/7 support shifts and manager on duty shifts).
• Co-Product ownership together with the product owners. Together you will be responsible over complete software development lifecycle: designing, leading implementation, testing of new features and ensure adoption by stakeholders within a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Development expertise - provide functional and architectural guidance to the team.
• People management - management of people including active engagement, staffing, talent management, career aspirations, mentoring and enhancing skills of team members.
• Location leadership – Actively contribute and drive various leadership initiatives for the location e.g. cross unit collaboration, training plan execution, general administration, hiring & internship management, etc.

What you bring:

• Degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software product development with the focus on database core implementations in C++.
• Have a proven track record of building a culture of design excellence that develops high impact products.
• Strong advocate for agile development processes with experience implementing well-run, agile processes in multiple functions including development, QA, release & deployment.
• Ability to communicate vision and strategy effectively.
• Foster a robust, unified team atmosphere and empower the development team to engage in efficient, smooth cross-collaboration dynamics for optimized productivity.
• Effectively lead teams, manage customer incidents promptly and ensure concerns are addressed within the SLA period.
• Mentor and support other developers in solving technically challenging issues, enabling them to benefit from your extensive experience and expertise.
• Possess strong organizational skills and be comfortable with leading change.
• Partner with other teams and individuals across the organization to tackle intricate technical & business challenges. 
• Proficiency in programming language like C++, Perl, Python, Rust, SQL
• Fluent English is a must, self-managed and results driven with excellent execution skills.

• Container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes etc.
• Cloud integration and deployment on AWS, GCP and Azure.
• Demonstrate comprehensive understanding and expertise in DevOps methodologies and principles.
