At SAP, Technical Writers are called User Assistance Developers because their role is to assist the users of our software.  As a User Assistance Developer, you will create user assistance (UA) deliverables across various media types that enable users to deploy, administer, and use SAP software. Your deliverables will include terminology, UI texts, multimedia content (graphics and videos), on-screen help, guides, tutorials, and API references. Your creativity will shine as you revolutionize UA deliverables by integrating GenAI technology and championing cutting-edge initiatives across SAP.

 

Your core tasks will encompass planning, designing, developing, and editing these UA deliverables. You will also research user information needs through collaboration both internally with subject-matter experts and externally with customers by participating in customer engagement activities or usability tests. Gathering and organizing source information such as functional specifications or user stories will be essential.

 

You will ensure UI texts are clear, translatable, and support user tasks, acting as an advocate for an excellent user experience. By structuring content strategically and selecting optimal distribution channels, you will tailor content to your audience's needs. Additionally, you will prepare content for delivery, including metadata provision, following standard production processes.

What you bring:

 

To excel in the role of a User Assistance Developer, you will need a blend of technical expertise and communication skills. Key qualifications include:

  • A degree in Technical Communication, IT, Business Studies, English, Translation, Communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and spoken skills in English, with a strong command of grammar and vocabulary, particularly in software terminology.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in technical writing, technical content creation, or UX writing.
  • Proven ability to simplify complex technical concepts and present them clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in creating product documentation, with familiarity in DITA being a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.

Soft Skills: You should be a strong communicator with outstanding writing and grammar skills, capable of expressing complex technical information clearly and precisely. Flexibility and a team-oriented attitude are crucial, as is the readiness to acquire extensive product knowledge and adapt to learning new skills quickly. strong communication skills will help you thrive in a dynamic team environment. You should be ready to engage in knowledge sharing and possess a willingness to learn and grow within the role
