PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The Delivery Program Manager (DPM) is responsible for managing multiple projects within ANZ and meets the desired program results. They are responsible for managing projects/ programs where SAP Adoption Services Center (ASC) carries accountability or plays a significant role. The DPM has the qualifications and business acumen to manage multiple large-scale, high-risk, projects that span organisational boundaries including multiple Solution Area Hubs and multiple service partners/vendors.

They oversee effective project oversight and project reviews to affect program success and serve as a mentor to project managers on program issues.  They reinforce enterprise knowledge management through the communication of program lessons learned and best practices development.

 

The Delivery Program Manager needs to work closely with the ASC Management Team, CS&D Organization of the Market Units and will report to the Regional Engagement Head APJ, ASC.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivery Engagement & Execution

    • Participate in program planning activities and oversee the delivery of multiple projects in Australia and New Zealand to successful program execution.
    • Translate generalised customer business goals and objectives into concrete program strategy and tactical plans
    • Evaluate complex situations accurately and identify viable solutions that create a successful outcome for the customer
    • Oversee the development of proposals and requests for proposals associated with the program
    • Work on complex problems where analysis of the situation or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors to achieve the best results.
    • Work closely with the Market Unit Delivery Organization, Program Sponsors and Program Review Boards to facilitate decisions necessary for program delivery.
    • Resolve political, resource, budgeting, change, and legal issues affecting the program.
    • Escalate early issues about the projects/program to Regional CS&D Head and Account management.
    • Proactively manage program stakeholder satisfaction to position and secure customer references and success story

Delivery & Program Coordination

    • The Delivery program manager should be able to proactively transact with the project managers for any delivery support required and provide appropriate guidance and solution recommendations
    • Serve as mentor/advisor/decision-maker to project managers for the program for issues related to corporate politics, external politics, client relations, project quality and project risks
    • Play as a bridge between the onsite delivery management teams and remote teams for any project-related support issues demonstrating higher levels of responsiveness and flexibility
    • Work with the various stakeholders within the Solution Area Hubs in ASC to ensure the project fulfilment on time, address any resourcing-related issues, and facilitate meetings to address critical project management topics
    • Participate in Bid (Market Unit Alignment, Partner Costs, Effort optimization, Project Management, Risk Management) during the engagement lifecycle to assess the delivery risks, risk management discussions and provide any value-added pointers to manage the same.
    • Initiate bid to delivery handover to project managers during the opportunity conversion phase and perform required orientation to the onboarding teams
    • Be the first point of escalation contact to the remote project manager community and facilitate or hand over to the right stakeholder to resolve the situation.
    • Evaluate offshore partners and perform due diligence alongside fulfilment functions to address resourcing needs of the projects starting in the region.

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

    • Excellent understanding of SAP solutions and of the consulting business processes and functions
    • Highly developed business acumen
    • Liaison and consultative skills: negotiating skills within a context of high political sensitivity and conflicting interests
    • Strong writing, mentoring, decision making, communication, and meeting facilitation skills; ability to utilize a combination of formal authority and persuasion skill sets
    • Ability to train, mentor and develop project managers and senior project managers in project management methodologies and their application
    • Knowledge of the strategic and operational issues of the project management business unit
    • Demonstrated ability in managing internal and external client expectations on program requirements and deliverables
    • Knowledge of and competency in project management processes including planning tasks, resource allocation, risk management, time management, financial management, HR management, quality management, monitoring and reporting, documenting and record keeping
    • Adaptability and flexibility to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity, and change.
    • Exceptional leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills; the ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience; competence in clear concise and tactful communication with senior executive management, clients, peers and team members.

    • Executive Management (Customer, SAP and Partner Management)
    • Client CIO, Client Sponsor, Client Functional Directors, and Steering Committees
    • Project Managers (Customer, SAP and partner resources)
    • Collaborate with Regional Delivery Program Managers, Service Engagement Managers, Project Excellency Head, Regional and Global Engagement Heads
    • SAP internal support organization, Delivery Teams, Solutioning Center
    • Coordinate with business enabling functions like Mobility, Resource management, Partner management, Operations and Finance for any delivery-related topics
    • Account Management for identified customer base or territories
    • SAP Project Management Community

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Master’s degree, preferably in commerce, engineering, information technologies or MBA
    • PMP certification and /or other industry and project management certifications is an additional plus
    • PMM methodology Certification and Active Methodology
    • 7 – 10 years of project management experience in large-scale, high-risk, or strategic projects/program
    • 3 – 5 years of supervisory or coaching experience in teambuilding and leading teams
    • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams within a formalized methodology
    • Demonstrated experience in managing issues, scope and quality while bringing projects to successful completion within the cost and time requirements

 

She/he needs to be based in Australia. The nature of the role working with public sector customers require the applicant to be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and therefor local Australian Citizen are preferred. About 30% travel within region.
