About the Program:

Welcome to SAP’s Student Training & Rotation (STAR) Program. Our globally-run, integrated work-study program provides a unique opportunity for students studying Business or IT related specialisations to gain real-world experiences while completing the remaining 24 months of undergraduate studies. This paid training program will give students a head start in building their career at SAP and helps them achieve early success.

 

In this role as a STAR student, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work in one SAP’s key growth areas, the Sovereign Cloud team
  • Gain practical skills to grow into a role as a DevOps Engineer, Security Engineer or a Junior Engineer focused in our S4/HANA product
  • Get paid to work part-time during the academic year, full-time over a semester break if you choose;
  • Earn academic credit through your university from this experience;

 At the end of the program, participants will have the opportunity to be considered for permanent opportunities within the business that will challenge and grow their current capabilities.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Position title: STAR (Student Training and Rotation) Program Intern (VT/STAR) – Melbourne – Sovereign Cloud
  • Location: Melbourne, Australia
  • Expected start date and duration: End of January 2025 for minimum 24 months duration
  • Become part of SAP’s Sovereign Cloud team which focuses on meeting the requirements of governments and highly regulated industries, providing managed services and cloud solutions to Australian and New Zealand customers. Highly regulated industry organisations and government jurisdictions are increasingly subject to cyber security reporting and security risk management that includes consideration of where data resides. Those customers are looking to SAP’s Sovereign Cloud capabilities to ensure compliance and mitigate risk. Roles could include working as a DevOps, Security or Junior Engineer.
    • A DevOps Engineer is responsible for deployment, upgrade and lifecycle management of Cloud infrastructure and hosted SAP products. Responsibilities include creating scripts and assisting with automated deployment processes, setup and configuration of monitoring tools and trouble shooting to identify issues impacting service delivery.
    • A Security Engineer configures, maintains, administers and deploys a wide range of cyber security technologies. They troubleshoot technical problems for a wide range for of those technologies, develop requirements and recommend changes to improve performance and usability.
    • A Junior Engineer will be involved in managing the SAP S4/HANA daily operations of our SAP ecosystem. Responsibilities include managing periodic activities, refreshes, patching and upgrades.

Our STAR Program Sovereign Cloud candidates will be:

  • Strong at conducting analytical research
  • Good problem solvers
  • Strong communicators with well developed interpersonal skills, they like to collaborate with others
  • Demonstrating a ‘can do’ attitude with a strong sense of ownership for the work they undertake
  • Preferably studying Degree(s) IT or Computer Science/ Engineering-related major/second degree although other academic backgrounds will be considered
  • Have at least 24 months remaining in their studies from their start date (targeted earliest graduation date by end of 2026)
  • Willing and able to work at least 2 days per week during semester
  • Able to meet the requirements for an Australian Security Clearance which the company will sponsor. Candidates must be Australian citizens.
