Summary & Role Information:

The Cloud Architecture and Engineering (CAE) Unit within the Global Cloud Services (GCS) organization is looking for a algorithmic optimization (senior) developer (f/m/d) in the area of optimization to optimize SAP’s Cloud Infrastructure and increase its utilization and reliability. The successful candidate will drive innovations into a world spanning industry scale cloud infrastructure. 

We are currently extending our research and innovation team to transform our automation framework to be future-proof for the increasing demand on SAP cloud offerings. We are working on concepts to modernize our system architecture to be scalable, performant, and reliable by leveraging state of the art virtualization technology (e.g. containerization, K8S).
In the field of mathematical optimization, you will undertake innovations towards crafting novel solutions for large scale optimization challenges arising from a multitude of real problems of datacenters. Learning new skills together with the willingness to grow into new technical areas is very important.


Experience/ Role Requirements:

 

  • Master or PhD in computer science, mathematics, operations research with a focus on mathematical optimization or algorithm engineering
  • First-hand experience in designing algorithms for challenging combinatorial optimization problems and implementing them
  • Applied knowledge of various optimization methodologies (e.g., integer/linear programming, constraint programming, graph algorithms, meta-heuristics)
  • Strong programming skills in at least one object-oriented language (Python and C++ preferred)
  • Strong oral and written English skills are essential
  • Knowledge and experience with mathematical modeling frameworks (e.g., ZIMPL) and solvers (e.g., Gurobi, OR-tools) is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in data visualization / evaluation and machine learning techniques is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in designing parallel / distributed systems is a plus
