What you`ll do 


Summary:
The responsibility of the Cloud Data Center Services Senior Specialist role is a) Managing strategic data center related projects or workstreams within programs to success, b) Leading service execution of selected data center services (operations) and c) Support to improve data center related services.
You will work very closely with technical and business experts from GCID Data Center and Infrastructure Lifecycle Services team as well as from GCID +1 infrastructure platform team, Controlling, Procurement and SAP’s Cloud application Lines of Business. 

 

The Role:
The role is within the GCID Data Center and Infrastructure Lifecycle Services team (DLS).
As a Senior Specialist for Data Center Services you will have a very broad responsibility that spans from leading services supporting Cloud Data Center operations to leading Data Center related transformation projects or workstreams within bigger programs. Examples for concrete topics are Optimization of data center capacity that support GCID’s overall data center strategy, data center related environmental sustainability, data center costs and contracts. It includes work spanning the entire lifecycle from creating business cases to design and planning to execution and success.
The role is a generalist understanding Cloud business and being interested in technology. It’s bridging from technology to business elements like costs, capacity management and vice versa. 
Ultimately, the role will support the continuous evolution of SAP Cloud Data Center services to SAP Cloud Business strategy and new technologies to also in future deliver excellent and market competitive data center services.
The role will report to the head of GCID DLS. 

 

What you bring

 

  • Like to work with colleagues on projects as a team that combines people with different background and expertise – as the role is most of the middle person between different experts from technology, commercial functions and Cloud lines of business, this is interest is key
  • Proven ability to efficiently communicate and collaborate with a diverse set of colleagues
  • Strong ability to combine technical and business, potentially also regulatory aspects
  • Strong motivation to learn, being creative and curious: What GCID DLS does is someone special, so it’s not about having done the same in the past but learning fast
  • 5-10 years experience in IT, ideally in Cloud services 
  • Interest for data center and infrastructure technology 
  • Experience in project management and having lead projects in a content driven way (typical PMO skills are good to have but not the core of the role)
  • Experience with creating business cases
  • Preparation of upper management and executive decisions
  • Proven English and German language skills

Global Cloud Infrastructure & Delivery (GCID) is the CORE of SAP’s Cloud Strategy and its execution. Within GCID, the DLS unit is responsible for operating SAP Cloud data centers and delivering Infrastructure Lifecycle services in and around the data centers. It includes next to data center services, Infrastructure HW supply and decommission chain and environmental sustainability. The team operates ~40 data centers around the globe.
