About the team
The Global Network Services team supports the company’s global network infrastructure. The Internet and Cloud Connectivity team is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of data network services including WAN, Internet, and DNS services.
The Role
Your primary tasks include the design, deployment, operation and continuous improvement of network automation tools, including in house dev-ops support for automation scripting running on Microsoft Azure, Virtual Router IOS implementation and configuration, Bash shell scripting, NodeJS, SQL (MySQL or similar DBA skillsets) Ansible automation scripting, and Perl / Python scripting, related to optimizing operations of the global WAN and Internet network infrastructure, specific to our global Cloud Data Centers. Close cooperation with other GNS Cloud delivery team colleagues will be required to ensure that the WAN network infrastructure is delivered in accordance with business requirements and global standards. You will also provide third line incident support and provide knowledge transfer to first and second level support teams.

In addition to these core tasks you will also be expected to support the technical and process design activities by lending subject matter expertise and feeding back regional requirements to global design architects. 

Role Requirements

  • Design and develop network configuration automation using programming skills as typically needed in the Dev Ops context (e.g. Python, Perl, Unix Shell)
  • Developing end to end environments on multi-cloud infrastructures such as MS Azure or Google Cloud Platform, including virtual routers and automation scripts.
  • Design and deploy solutions/infrastructures based on WAN technologies
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the design of wide area network configuration automation services
  • Provide consultancy for internal business units 
  • Coordinate deployment of new WAN network services / Project Management
  • Ensure compliance of network infrastructure to global standards
  • Ensure global alignment across the regional delivery teams
  • Develop and maintain tools for automation of network device configurations and deployments

Work Experience

  • 5 - 9 years’ experience in DevOps engineering and on cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • 3+ years of professional experience in Java/J2EE or Python programming in automation tasks or application development along with proficiency in concepts of computing performance
  • Knowledge of MSSQL, MySQL, technologies
  • Advanced Knowledge of Linux and Windows Operating Systems and administration
  • Advanced knowledge of application clustering / load balancing concepts and technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of code and script (Ex: Java script, Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation solutions (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt, etc.)
  • Develop automation to quickly and rapidly deploy instances from hardened images. Using Terraform or ARM template experience for Azure is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite: switching, routing, firewalling and load balancing
  • Have a strong background in LAN/WAN/CDN technologies and concepts
  • CCNP certification required, CCIE certification is a plus
