SAP started in 1972 as a team of five colleagues with a desire to do something new. Together, they changed enterprise software and reinvented how business was done. Today, as a market leader in enterprise application software, we remain true to our roots. That’s why we engineer solutions to fuel innovation, foster equality and spread opportunity for our employees and customers across borders and cultures.

SAP values the entrepreneurial spirit, fostering creativity and building lasting relationships with our employees. We know that a diverse and inclusive workforce keeps us competitive and provides opportunities for all. We believe that together we can transform industries, grow economics, lift up societies and sustain our environment. Because it’s the best-run businesses that make the world run better and improve people’s lives.

The SAP Core Platform team stands for SAP's technology layer that is used by millions of business people all over the world. In small and agile development teams, we innovate on compilers, virtual machines, higher-level application services, and development environments to make SAP the best-run enterprise software on all supported cloud and on-premises platforms. As a central part of our technology we offer a set of programming languages like ABAP or ABAP CDS that enable developers from SAP, partners or customers to model and develop highly efficient business applications.

SAP ABAP Platform drives innovation from the heart of SAP. The ABAP Platform  consists of more than 600 people located around the globe. We are SAP’s technical foundation and proud that our innovations are used by over 12 million people in 120 countries. ABAP Platform is SAP’s industry standard PaaS and carries the world’s most successful enterprise application space. Our business application development platform provides languages, compilers, VMs, SDKs and IDEs for large scale application development, i.e. to develop, integrate, deploy and run business applications on any premises, from our customer’s IT infrastructure to SAP-managed cloud infrastructures running on cloud foundry as well as Kubernetes.

The XCO ("Extension Components") library is a rapidly growing development library for the ABAP programming language with the goal of providing a modern and highly efficient development experience. Its scope ranges from standard library functionality over design patterns to standard APIs that support the programmatic generation and analysis of ABAP development objects in a strongly typed fashion. In the context of the standard library module we are planning to offer new and innovative ways that will simplify working with XML data in the ABAP environment. As a working student you will support our team developing a new module for the XCO library that integrates seamlessly into the overall XCO standard library.

We are looking for smart and highly motivated students who want to work besides his or her studies in an inspirational learning and working environment. We offer you a working student contract as a part-time job assignment of a at least six months with an hourly wage. During this time you will work in our offices with close mentorship by SAP development teams. Your tasks are

  • Familiarization with the overall patterns, principles and development practices employed in XCO library development
  • Design and implementation of APIs for working with XML data
  • Integration of the new XCO module into the XCO standard library
  • Providing thorough automated tests for the new functionality

  • Bachelor/Master student (f/m/d) of computer science, natural science or mathematics

  • Programming skills in object-oriented programming languages like C++, Java, Java Script, or  ABAP
