 Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain a highly secure and expansive modular system architecture
  • Apply regular and security updates to servers, database and web applications
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
  • System integration with clients
  • Assist with the design and architecture of hosted customer environments.
  • Administer the state of all components in our cloud and development infrastructure.
  • Periodically report to the customer and company on system performance metrics.
  • Administer overall site availability, security, latency, and system health.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot site performance issues.
  • Monitor for server and software vulnerabilities and administer upgrade and patching efforts.
  • Work closely with the development team to ensure high availability and security.
  • Maintain cloud-based servers including patching vulnerabilities, backup/restore operations, provisioning of new servers, and configuring firewalls.
  • Perform routine vulnerability and security scans on the environment, resolve or escalate findings.
  • Administer Disaster Recovery Procedures and perform annual DR exercise.
  • Maintain DNS and manage SSL certificates.
  • Administer SSO and Active Directory
  • Administer mail and FTP solutions.
  • Respond to alarms and outages on an as-needed basis.
  • Participate in the configuration and operation of deployment tools (CI/CD)

Considerable skills in one or more of the following:

 

Leads technical support in the areas of infrastructure hosted on providers AWS, Azure and GCP Cloud.

 

Administers, configures, monitors and tests application servers for business and network operations.

 

Provides suggestions and recommendations for new technology solutions. Implements end user and application security and monitors storage capacities and performance for applications servers;

 

Automates reoccurring tasks using Python, Ansible and Puppet modules. Implements and monitors application server, upgrades, and patches.

 

Monitors the software and hardware inventory and ensures that copyright and licensing requirements are met.

 

*Responsibilities* +

 

Leads daily system monitoring, verifying integrity and availability of hardware, network and server installations, configuration, systems and key processes, performance, testing, and verifies

 

completion of scheduled jobs such as backups, restores, patches and automating reoccurring tasks.

 

Administers AWS Cloud services such as EC2, S3, ALB/NLB, CloudWatch, IAM policies etc.

 

Serves as a subject matter expert on major IT environment upgrades, enhancements, new functionality, capacities, performance, cost effectiveness, and business integrations.

 

+ Participates in the on-call rotation providing 24x7 support.

 

+ Provides input and recommendations on new potential technology solutions based on research and analysis.

 

+ Designs and implements infrastructure solutions to meet business and technical objectives on-prem, and in the AWS Cloud.

 

+ Analyzes and resolves technology and end user incidents during standard business hours or on-call rotations; Monitors issue resolutions and collaborates with the application team and engineers when necessary to resolve and apply fixes.

 

+ Maintains standard application and operations procedure documentation.

 

+ Ensures compliance with Software Testing Life-Cycle standard operating procedures and policies.

 

+ Maintains accurate software and hardware inventory and manages the copyright and licensing requirements.

 

 

 

Desired Skills & Experience

  • University Degree relating to information systems or computer science (Bachelor, Master).
  • Experience in installing, configuring and supporting Linux and Microsoft Windows Servers
  • 2+ years of experience in implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting the Unix/ Linux operating system, Internet-based applications, and web servers
  • 2+ years of experience in administrating cloud platforms like AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
  • Professional Exposure to Dev Ops release and build management, automation scripts experience with tools like Git, bash scripting, PowerShell, AWS Cloud Formation, Ansible, Salt, Chef or Puppet
  • Professional Exposure to container platform tools like OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to interact with technical and business counterparts.
  • Being available for working outside of normal business hours, holidays, and some weekends when needed for on-call periods.

       

Nice to have 

  • Working knowledge of ITIL and/or agile methodologies.
  • Experience configuring and monitoring firewalls, routers, switches and other network devices.
  • Experience with TCP/IP protocol & configuration and Internet technologies.
  • Experience with LAN/WAN networking/distributed computing environment (client/server).
  • Experience installing and managing Database, Big Data or NoSQL deployments.

       

Soft skills

  • Strong team, interpersonal, analytical, problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Professional curiosity and the ability to enable yourself in new technologies and tasks.
  • Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision.
