What you'll do

Join our Platform Engineering team and be a key player in developing and maintaining the development platform that powers our industry-leading customer portal "SAP for Me", which serves as the central entry point for all digital interactions with SAP.   

As a seasoned Java Developer, you will drive key concepts in our backbone.  

What you bring  

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.   
• Interest in learning new tools, languages, workflows, and philosophies  
• 8+ years of experience in software development for production applications in Java (version 11 and above)  
• Experience implementing integration design patterns, especially in microservices or event-driven architecture.  
• Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs and integrating them seamlessly with front-end components.  
• Strong understanding of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL; experience in working with SAP HANA is a plus) and demonstrated experience in data modelling and efficient data manipulation.  
• Experience in Operation and Maintenance of high available 
   (Cloud-)Applications 
• Good understanding of any one cloud platform such as GCP, Azure, AWS, SAP BTP.  
• Experience with Observability, i.e., Micrometer metrics, Dynatrace, Prometheus  
• Experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) services, particularly Cloud Foundry and Kyma runtimes, is highly desirable.  
• Experience in setting up CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure Devops, or equivalent.  
• Understanding of the OData specification (Open Data Protocol) is a plus.  
• Prior experience in leading and mentoring development teams is a plus.   
• Effective collaboration and communication skills for working within a cross-functional Agile Scrum team in English.  
• High commitment to quality, reliability, and a self-motivating style of working.   
• Excellent problem-solving abilities  

Meet your team  

The Customer Portals organization is responsible to define and implement SAP’s customer & partner portal SAP for Me which is one of the three main digital access points to SAP. In this context SAP for Me is the digital companion for all customers and partners to efficiently manage all their tasks and get insights in all their data related to their SAP collaboration.   

Within Customer Portals, you will become part of the agile team "Bumblebee." The team consists of experienced developers who primarily focus on the development of the shared framework that facilitate the work of developers from other teams. Additionally, the team is responsible for the development, maintenance, and improvement of DevOps tools and deployment. You will work closely with developers and architects to drive and implement new requirements for tools and systems. Emphasis is always placed on code quality, test-driven development, and code reviews. We use pair programming for complex tasks, so it is necessary that you are a team player.
