What you'll do 

As a Senior Full Stack Developer, you will bring extensive expertise to the table, guiding the development process from end to end. This role provides a unique opportunity to join our Platform Engineering team and be a key player in developing and maintaining the development platform that powers our industry-leading customer portal "SAP for Me", which serves as the central entry point for all digital interactions with SAP.

• Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of robust and scalable solutions for our customer portal, demonstrating deep expertise across the entire technology stack.  
• Architect and design scalable and maintainable solutions, considering both front-end and back-end components, with a focus on performance, security and user experience.  
• Lead the development of server-side logic and services, utilizing your expertise in server-side technologies mainly in Java.  
• Provide expert-level contributions to the development of intuitive and responsive user interfaces using modern front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and leading frameworks.  
• Implement and manage integrations with third-party services and APIs to enhance the functionality and connectivity of the customer portal.  
• Conduct thorough code reviews, ensure code quality, and contribute to the improvement of development processes and best practices.  
• Keep abreast of the latest industry trends, best practices, and technologies, and propose their integration into the application development process as appropriate.  

What you bring 

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.  
• 8+ years of experience in software development for production applications in Java (11+) 
• Experience implementing integration design patterns, especially in a microservices or event-driven architecture  
• Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs and integrating them seamlessly with front-end components. 
• Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript. Proficiency in at least one leading front-end framework (React, Angular, Vue.js or similar), SAPUI5 is a plus 
• Strong understanding of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and demonstrated experience in data modelling and efficient data manipulation. 
• Knowledgeable in handling CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab, Gradle or similar. 
• Experienced with version control platforms such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket or similar.  
• Understanding of the OData specification (Open Data Protocol) is a plus. 
• Prior experience in leading and mentoring development teams is a plus.  
• Effective collaboration and communication skills for working within a cross-functional Agile Scrum team in English.

Meet your team 

The Customer Portals organization is responsible to define and implement SAP’s customer & partner portal SAP for Me which is one of the three main digital access points to SAP. In this context SAP for Me is the digital companion for all customers and partners to efficiently manage all their tasks and get insights in all their data related to their SAP collaboration.  

Within Customer Portals, you will become part of the agile team who primarily focus on developing frontend and backend components which are reused by other feature-teams or are providing cross functionalities for our end-users.  

Our unit consists of about 50 employees located in Germany, China, USA and Romania. We are using cutting edge technologies and managing the agile scrum teams using SAFe methodology.
