YOUR FUTURE ROLE
You are working in the Global IFRS Excellence (GIE) within the Corporate Financial Reporting (CFR) department of SAP. This department is within the CFO Board area directly assigned to the Chief Accounting Officer of SAP within Global Accounting, Reporting and Tax (GAR&T) and is responsible for the completeness and correctness of SAP’s accounting and external financial reporting under German and International law.
As a Finance Expert you will assist the Head of GIE with complex topics in one or more Centers of Expertise (CoE) within the GIE team and:
- Evaluate, assess, determine resolution, and communicate the appropriate accounting treatment to (internal and external) stakeholders.
- Drive complex accounting entries and leverage R2R for transactional activity where possible and evaluate existing processes to streamline and automate where possible.
- Draft or review footnotes and disclosures for the group financial statements related to assigned topical areas.
- Keep up to date technically and drive updates and enhancement of accounting guidelines.
- Represent the company as a subject matter expert internally and externally.
YOUR PROFILE
- Deep professional experience and experience in application of IFRS accounting rules
- Experience in IFRS required (including and not limited to): financial instruments (including hedging), stock-based compensation and other valuation related topics.
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable to collaborate with all hierarchy levels across the organization.
- Able to articulate positions and share in-depth knowledge within the team to enable decision-making by providing innovative solutions to complex business issues.
- Assertive and able to work both independently, within small groups and balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in spoken and written English and German is a must.
- Excellent in MS Excel, knowledge of accounting-related functionalities in SAP ERP preferred.
- University degree with special topics in finance, preferably accounting and/or auditing
- CPA / CA / ACCA a plus
- Preferably 8+ years of working experience in the area of accounting and reporting under IFRS or in the assurance area of an audit firm.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The GIE team evaluates, decides on and oversees IFRS technical accounting topics for subsidiaries worldwide (outside IFRS 15 and revenue accounting) that have a global impact and also own the SAP Group Accounting Guideline. The team executes end to end accounting processes within its Centers of Expertise (Deals: M&A Accounting; employee benefits including pension accounting, share-based compensation and restructuring accounting; financial instruments, litigation and compliance-related matters; hyperinflation and FX-related matters; cost of sales classification matters).
