What you`ll do 


Summary

 

We are looking for an experienced IT Technology Services Expert - working as a M&A Data Migration Expert within the M&A IT Team. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing data migration activities within our M&A projects. These include post-merger integrations, carve-outs and divestures. Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring that all data is accurately transferred, securely managed, and fully integrated into our internal IT systems with minimal disruption to operations. You will work closely with IT professionals, project managers, business analysts, and stakeholders across the organization and external parties to deliver successful integration outcomes.
You will report to the Reporting to the Head of M&A CoE IT EMEA. 

 

The Role


Position Overview: 
As a Data Migration Expert within our M&A IT Team, you will play a critical role in the seamless integration of data during mergers and acquisitions. You will lead the planning, execution, and oversight of data migration activities, ensuring that data is accurately transferred, securely managed, and fully integrated into our existing systems with minimal disruption to operations. This role requires a deep understanding of data mapping, ETL processes, and risk management, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Your work will be essential in maintaining data integrity and compliance throughout the migration process, contributing to the successful execution of high-impact M&A projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Migration Strategy: Develop comprehensive data migration strategies tailored to each M&A project, considering the unique requirements, timelines, customers, and legacy environments.
  • Data Mapping & Transformation: Analyse data, identify stakeholders, organize, and drive data object specific sessions to identify scope and source data. Map data from legacy systems/sources to SAP target environments. ensuring compatibility and consistency across systems. Develop and execute data transformation rules to align with the target system’s structure.
  • Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL): Oversee the extraction, transformation, and loading processes, utilizing advanced ETL tools and techniques to ensure efficient and error-free data migration. Also identify and build new load tools where required (e.g. for new contract management systems or new data objects)
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous data quality assessments before, during, and after migration. Address data quality issues promptly, identify data enhancement strategies and track execution until completion.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks associated with data migration, such as timeline, dependencies, testing or compliance issues. Develop, implement, and report risk mitigation strategies
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure all data migration activities comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and security standards, particularly in highly regulated industries. 
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business teams, IT, and operations units, to understand data requirements and ensure smooth communication throughout the migration process. Escalate issues early to the project mgmt. and drive mitigations.
  • Post-Migration Support: Provide post-migration support, including troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise after data migration. Ensure continuous improvement of migration processes / more automation based on lessons learned and building of reusable assets for future projects.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of the migration processes, methodologies, and outcomes to support transparency, knowledge transfer, and future audits. For each data migration objects documentation, reviews, tests, and approvals should be available as a consistent audit trail.

 

Type of work: You bring the ability to work effectively under pressure and to adapt to changing priorities. You can learn and enable yourself independently as needed for the current project. Experience working with globally distributed teams in a diverse international set up in multiple time zones are preferred.

 

What you bring 

 

  • Experience: 7+ years hands-on experience SAP related data migrations, best in M&A / large enterprise)
  • Technical: Strong knowledge of data migration tools e.g. SAP Data Services, Informatica, ...; experience with relational databases/SQL knowledge of cloud environments beneficial
  • Data: Proven experience in ETL, mapping, and transformation processes; good understanding of relational databases /data architecture
  • Industry: Process experience from volume-based industry (e.g. Software, Telco, Utilities highly beneficial
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Project Management: Experience managing or contributing to complex data migration projects, managing multiple tasks in parallel
  • Regulatory: Data protection (GDPR, HIPAA, ...)
  • Soft Skills: Effective communication skills (English & German) also towards non-technical stakeholders
