Your future role

In this position you support business and IT with the design and implementation of Material Master Variant Configuration for various Service and License Material use cases In a cross functional team - IT, Architecture, Process Owner – you will translate business into data requirements, data models and define and implement the configuration model for Material Master. It is expected that you act as a true ambassador of data literacy and with that helps SAP to transform into a data driven culture.


Responsibilities also include the following:

  • Initial definition and creation of Configuration Model for License and Services Materials
  • Support full Variant Configuration lifecycle incl. Operations – create, update, delete
  • Embed Material Configuration into the overall SAP process and system landscape – ensure the wider impact on SAP overall is understood
  • Establish Data Governance and Quality measures for the new configuration models
  • Support monthly / quarterly Pricing and Costing Process - ensure data consistency between source systems and Variant Configuration Model  


Your profil

  • Technical/engineering background with experience in data modeling and SAP Classification System
  • Experience with SD/MM customizing incl. Bill-of-Materials
  • Experience in Variant Configuration Modeling ideally certified in SAP Standard Trainings (PLM145, PLM146)
  • Mid term: Ability to create and maintain Configuration Data Models (Constraints, Bill-Of-Materials)
  • Comprehensive understanding of Master Data Management, Data Governance
  • Basic business process knowledge, ideally commercialization processes (getting a Material on the Pricelist), Quote to Cash and delivery
  • High level of enthusiasm for devising new scenarios, investigating, prototyping and operationalizing; ability to understand and structure complex situations
  • Basic project management skills
  • Fluency in English and German, both written and verbal
  • Experience of working in dynamic cross functional environment
  • Ability to work with a variety of teams and people in matrix organization
  • Hands-on experience and use of SAP systems and reporting tools is beneficial

The Product & Services Team is part of the Intelligent Enterprise Solutions organization, in the People & Operations Board Area. We play a vital role in delivering trusted data to the business through giving data purpose, establishing data standards with the business process owner and ensuring that data flows are managed across the entire SAP process and system landscape. This is the foundation on which the team operates.

It is a diverse team consisting of Data Object Owners who drive mainly strategic topics and contribute to critical projects; Data Analysts work hand in hand with Object Owners by conducting root cause analysis and implementation of data quality rule and Data Operations colleague working on day to day business issues via central shared service framework.

The synergies are evident – since all people in this team, work towards an aligned strategy and closely collaborate to get business critical issues solved and by that individual jobs delivered.
