The Global Cloud Services (GCS) unit is responsible for running SAP’s backend technology including operations of state-of-the-art data centers around the globe. Global Cloud Services provides shared services for SAP’s external Cloud Business and for SAP’s internal infrastructure such as development, training, or demo.
Its success mainly relies on close collaboration with its internal customers, the best in class technologies and an innovative thinking that ensure ongoing improvements of service delivery regarding quality, cost, speed and efficiency.
The GCS Tools department is a shared service provider within GCS. The department is responsible for a set of business critical, self-developed tools and applications supporting the implementation and operations of IT infrastructure.
The GCS Tools team is focusing on the following:

  • Tools Strategy & Roadmap Planning and Execution
  • Tools Automation, Development, Maintenance and Support
  • Tools & Application Implementation, Global Rollout & Operations
  • Tools related Demand, Service and Quality Management
  • Tools & Applications required for:
  • IT Asset Management and IT Configuration Management
  • IT Service Management
  • IT Reporting
  • IT Security

The main location of the GCS Tools Team is Germany (St. Leon-Rot & Dresden).
We are looking for a motivated and talented senior software developer who helps us to develop, maintain and enhance software components and internal products (tools/applications) used to manage SAP’s Cloud infrastructure. Based on our robust and reliable infrastructure management tools and applications, we’re the backbone for SAP’s software development landscapes and Cloud operations. We constantly evaluate the latest SAP technologies (e.g. SAP HANA) to be used for infrastructure management purposes. This helps us to drive innovation on a continuous basis.
Your tasks in our team include:

  • Developing, maintaining and implementing scalable, business critical software
  • Conceptual design, configuration and operation of current and future tools and applications
  • Taking over responsibility for product backlogs and development sprints as well as becoming a Product Owner
  • Strong alignment and close cooperation with internal customers, service providers and partners
  • Deliver and ensure high availability and stable tool/application operations
  • Continuously enhancing your software engineering skills and identifying new areas for personal development

Required skills:

  • Academic degree (or equivalent), preferably in computer science, mathematical, technical or science field of study
  • Strong software development background
  • Advanced technical skills in the following programming languages: ABAP OO with OData and SAP UI5 FIORI
  • Solid understanding of agile software development methodologies
  • Very good English and German language skills, verbal & written - both languages are mandatory

Preferred skills:

  • Quality Assurance including test automation with ABAP unit tests and SAPUI5 OPA tests
  • Knowledge of the latest software architectures
  • Knowledge of the SAP Fiori design guidelines
  • Knowledge of the ITIL Process Framework


  • 4+ years of technical and practical experience in IT software development
  • Proven hands-on experience in IT requirements engineering
  • Track of record in IT project contribution as technical lead
  • Proven experience in agile software development
