ROLE & ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION:

The Office of the President, North America is responsible for supporting SAP’s Leadership Team in the U.S. and Canada - a region home to nearly 20,000 employees and more than 100,000 customers across 25 industries.

North America is one of SAP’s largest regions by revenue and is helping to lead the company’s rapid shift to the cloud in North America while helping customers achieve growth in the digital economy.

In that context, the Office of the President team helps to drive key initiatives and perform functions that support the business’s continued growth and innovation, including but not limited to:

  • Coordinating and leading key regional customer engagements
  • Helping to lead external and third-party industry stakeholder engagements
  • Working closely with Global Corporate Affairs and NA Communications to communicate SAP and North America’s message and digital economy story
  • Working closely with the Digital Government Engagement team and Government Relations (GR) to communicate SAP and North America’s message and interests to government leaders, policymakers and thought leaders across the country.

 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS:

 

The expert in this function will report to the VP, Public Policy & Communications and support the Office of the President, the Chief of Staff, and others in executing strategic objectives in key areas, including:

 

  • Develop, write, and edit content including op-eds, correspondence, products for social media, etc.
  • Further the Social Media engagement strategy for NA executives
  • Support key business processes within the Office of the President, including how leaders are prepared for meetings and public engagements
  • Work closely with Government Relations and associated internal teams to refine and strengthen SAP’s public profile in DC and with key government stakeholders and customers.
  • Research, write, and edit speeches, keynotes, and other content to be delivered by the President of NA and others as needed.
  • Work closely with internal SAP teams to manage and oversee large-scale events participated in or led by the Office of the President

  • Deriving key communications objectives and strategies from business objectives and strategies in consultation with internal stakeholders
  • Building communications messages and selecting communications topics to focus on

Planning and Resourcing

  • Defining activities against key communications objectives, strategies, and programs
  • Identifying related cost and required bandwidth
  • Managing budgets
  • Aligning audience needs with appropriate content formats and channels

Getting people ready

  • Evaluate and deploy technology and best practices to support integrated and collaborative communications planning and execution across the global communications function.

Orchestrating the Execution of Key Programs

  • Ensure the integrated execution of communication and other programs (building channels, creating and sharing content, and reaching out to audiences)
  • Ensuring alignment, high impact, synergies and reuse.
  • Develop and implement related processes
  • Develop, implement, and manage efficient communications channels

Monitoring and Adjusting

  • Tracking execution of plan
  • Conducting measurements
  • Collecting feedback from target audiences
  • Gauging satisfaction of stakeholders
  • Channel the results of measurements as well as other outside-in intelligence (incl. media coverage analysis) from constituency groups into the processes for building the SAP business strategy
  • Reviewing and analyzing impact
  • Adjusting plans and content

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in hands-on design and implementation of communications concepts and plans
  • Experience in communications to more than one influencer type (media, bloggers, analyst, governments officials, employee communications) is a plus
  • Experienced in handling confidential material
  • Experience managing large-scale and complex events
