Cloud Native Sr. DevOps Engineer - Digital Manufacturing
This is a hybrid role based out of Waterloo. Hybrid is 3 days a week onsite and 2 days a week remote.

SAP Digital Manufacturing enables innovations around analytics, resource scheduling, process manufacturing, machine data integration, edge computing, including Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence and Industrial Internet of Things (IoT). The solution is based on event driven microservice architecture involving open-source technologies, BTP, AWS, Azure Services.

- Contribute to the technical design and implementation of secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and platform services
- Design, build, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure and Kubernetes platforms that support high-availability SaaS solutions
- Apply infrastructure-as-code and GitOps practices to automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment of cloud environments
- Maintain a strong focus on reliability, security, and operational excellence to ensure a stable customer experience
- Collaborate and work as a technical leader on a dynamic and motivated team
- Resolve complex infrastructure, deployment, and operational issues within own area of expertise and support others in resolving issues
- Effectively communicate with local and remote teams and share expertise to ensure platform and product success
- Develop technical skills across the team through mentoring and knowledge transfer
- Invest in continuous learning via ongoing training and development of professional skill set
- Collaborate with developers, architects, and other technical experts to deliver cloud capabilities such as platform resilience, automated provisioning, landscape management, CI/CD pipelines, and development infrastructure
- Be available for regular on-call rotation, including participating in the operation of the service during release updates, incident response, and platform support activities
We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stays curious. You like to work on meaningful infrastructure and platform challenges and are energized by continuous learning.
- Experience supporting large-scale distributed SaaS platforms with high availability and reliability requirements
- Have advanced experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure, container platforms, and automated deployment pipelines
- Have strong experience in cloud architecture, networking, security configuration, and infrastructure automation
- Have hands-on experience building, hardening and operating Kubernetes-based platforms
- Have strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across distributed systems and cloud environments
- Have advanced experience with several of:
- Cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
- Container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
- Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, etc.)
- CI/CD pipeline tools (Concourse, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.)
- GitOps deployment tools (ArgoCD, Flux, etc.)
- Networking concepts including DNS, ingress/egress configuration, load balancing, and network security
- Observability and monitoring tools for metrics, logging, and tracing
- Source control platforms such as Git and GitHub
- Possess strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and convey ideas to cross-functional technical and non-technical teams
- Exhibit a passion for reliable and secure cloud platforms with a commitment to the full lifecycle of cloud services including infrastructure design, automation, deployment, operations, monitoring, and continuous improvement
- Experience working in high-security or sovereign cloud environments with strict networking, access control, and operational requirements is considered an asset.
Technical knowledge in the following areas is an asset:
- DevOps tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, Maven, Jenkins, ADO, GitOps)
- Relational and NoSQL database design, administration and use, and OData
- Experience with SAP BTP Cloud Foundry
- Working experience in managing services with distributed systems and cloud scale with strong automation skills
- Relevant cloud or DevOps industry certifications are a plus
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science, engineering or equivalent
- Minimum five years experience in working as a software developer or DevOps engineer
