What you`ll do:
Summary:

We are looking for an experienced SAP application technology expert with a passion to manage the software updates for one or multiple applications operated by Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS). This can include applications and platforms like S4/HANA Private Cloud Edition, SAP Cloud Connector, Web Dispatcher, SAP Analytics Cloud Agents and others. 

The Role: 
You will plan and execute the mass deployment of new software artifacts across the ECS system landscape. This can include new service packs of the applications, single patches like TCI enabled SAPnotes or other automated configuration and software changes.

In the planning phase, you will align with Software Development and Productization on the validation results of the new packages, then follow up with the ECS operations teams on any risks and safeguarding needs and finally compiling the waves for execution. For execution you will work with our automation tools to schedule the deployment and to review the result for any problems requiring a follow-up activities or plans.

What you bring: 

• Cloud Mindset and previous work experience in a team running SAP technology based systems on a large scale
• Experience in planning large scale software change implementations, Operational Software Life Cycle Management like updates, upgrades
• Good understanding of the SAP application technology especially system architecture, software updates/upgrades, SAP software update tools and strategies like SUM, SAP Notes, TCI, Rolling Kernel Switches etc. 
• Creating and reviewing technical concepts, being able to summarize technical concepts for wider audiences. Experience in creating decision proposals as well as technical concepts, such as Knowledge Base Articles, Wiki pages, BLOG entries etc
• Communication with customers on technical and operations topics

You should have very good analytical and solution-oriented thinking as well as very good communication, presentation, and networking skills. Working effectively in international and virtual teams should be something you are used to do. This position also requires you to communicate fluently both in English and German language.

Meet the team:

Within the Product Engineering board area, the mission of the Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) Delivery organization is to run and operate SAP’s private cloud offering. Isolated private cloud landscapes are built for customers both in SAP owned datacenter as well as on IaaS infrastructure provided by hyperscalers like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services (AWS). ECS delivered services include backups, patching, provisioning and upgrades, restore and disaster recovery, monitoring and event detection. Services are delivered from all regions (EMEA/MEE/AMER/APJ) having a strong international focus and cultural diversity.

As part of ECS Delivery, the Application Technical Area is supporting our operational teams to reduce outages and operational effort as well as to increase customer satisfaction. The team is the interface to product support and product engineering for various SAP and non-SAP solutions and driving projects such as onboarding new applications and services, improving monitoring and tool integration, administrative access management, providing guidance on release strategy, extending knowledge transfer into distributed operations teams as well as running various inhouse tools.
